Host booters?

Host booters are becoming a bigger problem then ever before. So why do you get disconnected off of XbL when you are winning a game, most likely host booters. Host booting is when you flood some ones ip with bots for all of you that aren't aware. Your most likely going to get host booted for being better than somebody at a game or even life.

Yeah don't you just love them? They pretty much suck at life because they have to cheat on a game they will never be good at.

I also love it when i get threatened to get host booted and they don't do anything even when I give them my i.p. Don't sit there and threaten, do it. Do a federal offence, do it. Oh wait your bluffing :(

Please tell me your funny host booting experiences and how bad they are? Also tell me how you feel about them?

I've never gotten host booted and I've wondered what it's like. I didn't know it was a federal offense though, thats crazy but I can see why it would be. I'm interested in stories too.

I agree, host booting is a huge problem on XbL. However, it may be a federal offense but if they just kick you off XbL for a minute or so, chances are they won't be prosecuted. Now if they keep your internet disconnected for long, random periods of time, then that's a problem. I mean, if you called 911 or reported somebody for kicking you out of an XbL game they would probably laugh because it's a waste of time. Think of all the crimes in the world, and think about how those crimes match up against getting booted from a game, then do the math.

I'm sick of host booting myself, and I get host booted once or twice a day. It's a crime, yes, but it's such a small crime that it would be easily disregarded by most people. I'm not saying people cannot be arrested for host booting, I'm just saying that the chances of them getting locked up & doing good time are slim to none. Charging stolen credit-cards, hacking federal websites, hacking banks, those are more criminalized than "host booting" somebody on XbL.

Like you, I wish the problem would stop though. It does get annoying when you're up 10-20 kills in Team Doubles or MLG and all of a sudden you go black screen and everybody else "quits" and you get that "disconnected from xbox live" message. :-(

It's not really booting anymore, it's people modding, whether it's auto-aim or running a million miles an hour. It is really annoying, and hopefully will be out of reach.

This is why I don't really care about Halo 3 anymore. It was awesome for a very long time when it either wasn't possible or just not that many people knew how to do it. But only 24 more days until Halo:Reach so we (hopefully) won't have to worry about it much longer!

There are already hacked Xex's on retail reach. It won't be. I'm sure once black ops is out though, the Jtaggers will move on to hosting more 10th lobbies on that game.

I do get host-booted a couple times a day if I play playlist.

What sucks is this will only be a temporary fix in reach as well. It took awhile for people to learn all of the cheating ways that they have in H3 and i'm more than sure that in a year or so of reach being out it will be on its way just the same as in H2 and H3 :(

I've honestly gotten host booted probably about 3 times in Halo 3. I don't see it as that big of a deal. Maybe I just get lucky and don't get them? :P

I tend to get more lagswitchers in lone wolves then I get Host Booters. Its happened once or twice though, and its just pathetic that people do that stuff. Same thing for 10th lobbies.
