Channel is a map I've been working on for a good 4-5 weeks now. It has went through eight versions and is now finally ready for official release. I will be submitting this into the TLN Map Quest Contest (as well as my map, Impulse). Many thanks to ALL of the TLN people that helped test my map (honorable mentions: Luke, Shelly, EvilRyu, Toolboxxx, Smallz, Rasha). And special thanks to Pistola and Bravo for running lots of games on my map also (granted, Pistola played on v1... which was very bare.. and Bravo played on v2... also pretty bare). And then more thanks to Ladnil and Fatalityz! Two people from the MLG forge forum community that helped test and make suggestions. I love those two guys. X]
This is an inverse symmetrical 2-base map. Meaning, it's like a symmetrical map, except the other base is a mirror image of the other (or it's flipped). Think of Narrows... except one base's flag would be opposite the other base's cannon. This is NOT an arena map. The flag-running distance is similar to The Pit or Narrows. However, this is not a big map. It's quite small... smaller than Zealot actually. It's longer than it is wide... and just a very unique map in general. You will not see much inspiration of anything in the map. It's something new.

this is an amazing map! Thanks for putting me in the honorable mention! v8 is the best version that I have seen and I think it will win the mapquest. The competition is stiff but I think it will come out on top.

I think you should take out rockets. Other then that. This map looks sick now that the water is gone out of the middle.

dude rockets make the map movement so much better without them there no one would really make an effective push.

I understand where you're coming from, killboy. It is something I highly debated with myself throughout many of the versions. It is a pretty smaller sized and open map. However, like Smallz said, I ended up leaving them in there because of having a reason to push. If high level teams with lots of experience were to ever play on that map in Slayer, there would be stand-offs (even with Rockets). Rockets at least give some incentive to push.
But yes, I've been debating on whether to take Rockets out of Territories. And thank you for the comment.

That's the thing. To me the map seems a bit too open and small for there to be rockets. (I'm glad you finally say it's open like I have been for the whole time) But, I too also see where you are coming from. You should make another version without them, and move the territories to where the snipe is. I think that would be nice to see, but it wouldn't be your official map. Just like a test. Just my two sense. I would also like to see you open the side views for top mid like a point or two.

Good luck Impended, its a shame you have only seen/tested and had one game on Inducive. I really did love the water in the middle but I see why it had to be changed. But once again good luck and all the best mate.

Yes, I'm upset about having to get rid of the water bottom mid. But hey, gameplay before aesthetics, and the water created massive frame-rate problems.

I played this map last night with Impy and some others and I have to say it is my favorite out of all the ones I have played to date. In the first couple versions I honestly didn't like it at all but through the (8?) revisions it has turned out fantastic. Job well done. Territories and CTF both play amazing on this map.

I have played this map before I even played the v2 game types and I really thought it was an official map. Made me sad when it wasn't. Really fun game to play even though all I played was territories.

Looks like it is a true competitor. You didn't waste any effort when making this and it shows. It stinks that you couldn't keep the water, but I understand about the gameplay.
When I first saw the water I thought about how many other maps use water and how many other maps use water, but your map isn't like the others and that is a very good thing.
..And I like the video idea. I might have to "steal" it....just sayin'... LOL

oh and i really like the addition of the wall at the sniper, makes the sniper have to move out of wepon spawn to get a kill which speeds up the gp imo

Love this make. Great job man. Just wish you hadn't used that footage where you skipped outta my beat down. Or where smallz saved his life with the hail mary no scope. -.-

Lollll!! Did you see it from my point of view? Seeing smallz turn around while one-shot and rip a no-scope to your dome. Hahahaha! <3 I yelled when I saw it happen in the actual game.

Thanks for the comments guys. I had to fix an issue on the map. One of the plasma pistols I had on my map was set to 'fixed' for some reason, which resulted in it floating in the air when you dropped it or died. I fixed it in the newest version. I also added a very small, but efficient structure to the back of each base. I corrected the link to direct you to the updated version. Thanks!

I know that I haven't been accepting invites recently from some of the TLN members, and that is because I've been playing a lot more casual Halo. But if there are some more MapQuest customs, like on this map, PLEASE invite me, and I'll accept if I'm not in a game (I'm trying to keep a decent no-quit record).
Oh, and I'd love to play some CTF on this map. I know originally you were saying one CTF gametype didn't play well, but I assume you tried the other. I wanna try something new to me like CTF on this map, but Territories is always a great time (maybe because I out-DMRed Pistola when I was down a shot on that gametype, lol.).

@Toolboxxx: If I do anything to the map, it will be aesthetic additions. I will probably try to add some sort of color or flare without creating frame rate issues.
@Mongrel: If the last time you played on the map was with Pistola... the map is significantly better now. That was v2 when Pistola played on it. The final version is v8. Lol. However, yes, CTF is truly amazing on this map. The only gametype I used to be scared to play on this map was Slayer, but with certain additions to the map, it has started playing much better.

The first thing I noticed --first impressions-- was how the map is longer horizontal route-wise and in particular the map feels bigger than it really is, and an intentionally invisible inverse presence, which is where inverse designs shine. The lifts tie the middle and allow that bottleneck through the middle to function. The rocket placement around that area seems proper. Some of the detail forging could have been touched up and the water with aesthetic integration became unbelievable when time was spent on the map. I have yet to have a closer look with this release version which I plan to do today so those concerns may not exist. Overall good job on the map. Have fun in the contest. Good luck man.

Thanks =) Most meaningful review coming from you. Before the 31st, I will be trying to make the map look more 'appealing to the eye'. Aesthetics is my weak point when it comes to forging.

I have finished v10 of the map. I've added color and flare. You should definitely be able to tell what's what when it comes to calling out locations. Need people to test on it tonight. And thanks, krillin, toolboxx, and benjak.

I finished the last version of my map. It's much more colorful now and call-outs are much easier.
