Hey TLNers,
Firstly, Merry Christmas to all of you! You've truly made this community better than we could have ever envisioned it to be. Lets keep the friendly experience we have all come to love about our community.
Due to the amount of submissions we've gotten the entry period will be extended on the Map Quest contest until December 31st. Winner will now be announced on January 15th. The extension gives us better time to judge and play on all of our map entries. If you would like to update your maps and make any changes within this period you are welcome to re-submit. Thank you all for submissions and keep them coming!
Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!

Good luck to everyone. So many great maps have shown up in the past week. I just hope Killa KC and the maptesting crew over at MLG pay attention to this contest and give some great consideration to the winning map.

Well i am officially pulling out of the contest...
I feel bad that some people here are upset some of us came from another forum to enter this contest. So i would like MR.P and all TLN to X my maps. I did not want to cause any friction into this good community and i feel my time here has not help. So good luck to all the members that submitted and Best wishes..

Dude, no. Don't feel like that. It's kinda sad to see that you are feeling that way. This is just another way for TLN to gain some attention and improve it's fan/memberbase. I personally think you are fitting in well with this community.
The right thing for people from the other forum to do is to really become involved in this community, and then it doesn't matter anymore that you submitted your maps for this competition. You have come onto this forum and really been a respectful poster. You deserve to throw your skills into the competition.
Plus, this contest is about finding the best map overall. If it comes from someone who got into this community because of this contest, so be it.

As you see i been apart of this community since may, but i feel that some people are upset over a few of us that did submit our map and from the MLG community. I started doing maps to show my love of forge, but after years of working hard and having ups and downs i have grown tired of it. After me being diagnose with cancer and then going threw weeks of chemo and finally having surgery to get rid of it, i have seen that i lost what i started out to do. I am not leaving because of people complaing about who enters the contest, just want to show the community that i not here to win or get attention i was here to spread maps and idea's. So again best of luck to all the reaming entries and best wishes
And thanks to MR. P and all the TLN community that did welcome me and gave many people a chance to show there work and to get recognized.. And i will be Kick the TLN logo in my GT and my bio to get your name out there more then it is already..
God Bless

Much respect to you SaLoT. Do what you want with this, but I still feel that as long as a member becomes involved in this community, they deserve the right to enter the contest. And if this contest leads to MLG noticing a good map or two, then by all means, people should not hold back.
Plus this community makes it easy to fit in, so there is no reason to hold back from doing so.
If there are community members that are upset that you entered your maps, then it's not as good of a community as we all had hoped. Everyone should reread this (http://thelannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?240-Elitists-What-is-Not-Desired) and apply it to everything. Not just posts. Good luck to you SaLot, Onslaught will forever be in my heart. :)
This almost completely. The almost is because I wasn't a huge fan of Onslaught. But that is quite irrelevant.

Personally I thought you would win Salot. You made one of the best MLG maps in the pro circuit (mlg onslaught to all that do not know). And it is a favorite of mine and of many others. But if you really want to pull yourself out of the contest then I do understand. I was really anxious of finding out who won today also.
To everyone: message me my gt if you want me to test your map.

Agreed Salot is the best map maker in the whole of Halo and by him creating Onslaught he is the best for sure. So much respect to you Salot

Well, I don't know what to say to this. I would start by saying I myself and the TLN staff Love having you as a member. Also if your Maps are the best then we need them in this contest, there are always people that for what ever reason seem to have issues with other members. Don't let a few people bring down what you have built !!

Fritzster to probably win it because of his map making skills. He created Amplified. However, he also created many other maps that were even better during Halo 3.
Then I see wcdd7 entered, who also knows how to make very beautiful maps and is very experienced with forge.
However, there are many other forgers that nobody knows about because they didn't make the specific map that MLG was looking for during the beginning of Halo 3. If you spent enough time in the MLG forge forums, you'd be aware of the immense amount of talent that is there. It is quite impressive. People like Ladnil, Fatalityz, Solo, Deathstars, Zanno, Tak, Nexn, etc... Ladnil has become more well-known though because of Genome.
The extension should be beneficial to everyone though. Gives us all time to fix up our maps and make sure they actually are playing how they should be.
I guess I can try adding more aesthetics and color to my map now that there is an extension.
If you can win amongst the line-up of forgers that are entering this contest, you should truly be proud of yourself because these people (Salot, Fritzster, wcdd7, etc) that are submitting maps are definitely NOT slouches. They know what they're doing and forging is more important to them than actually playing the game is.
Good luck to all.

You know SaLot, when i realized who you were when you tested out my map I felt honored. Not scared, because if you won this contest it shows that you are great forger with a great ability in that aspect. And I hope they put out a rank who placed where to see where I ranked against someone great like you. Hit me later man.

I doubt he's quiting. The dude loves forging and the community loves him in return. I wouldn't blame him if he took a break for awhile as he takes an uncalled for amount of flak, especially as he is going through a rough time in his life. However, SaLot is a great forger and a great person from what I've seen and heard. I haven't gotten to play with him as much as I would like, but from the few sessions he struck me as a very pleasant and enjoyable person. For him to leave the forge scene would be a substantial loss to the Halo community as a whole. I pray for his quick recovery and health and hope that he stays involved in the forge community.

But it be very childish for me to return.. So thank you for your kind words and much respect...

Salot is a Forge nub, and he makes bad maps like Redemption.
But seriously, he told me himself he wasn't even accepting the prize to attend the LAN so anyone upset he was entering should man up and make something that isn't a miserable little pile of secrets. On a more personal note, I woke up at 2 AM on Christmas morning and had a sort of Forge-epiphany. I somehow completely changed my entire Forging style (I had previously restricted myself to symmetrical maps of the 2 or 4-base style) to create an entire map in one sitting. I started with just an empty box (literally) and filled it with what I believe will be an awesome asymmetrical map. I look forward to submitting it as well as seeing it being pitted against other great maps.

I'm very glad the update happened. It's awesome to hear that so many maps have been made and the reviewing process more gradual. Thanks guys.

Salot is a forge genius in my opinion, onslaught is and forever will be my favorite map. I enjoyed playing the mlg playlist on h3 just to hve a chance at playing ctf. Even if I were winning or losing it was always entertaining.

Stop changing your GT!
Glad to see you're back in dude.
OT: As your not on as often as you like, just ask some of us other guys (whether it be Dawkins, Controlix, myself or some stranger) to test your maps for you. We're a community dude... We're here to support each other in our quest to bring the best multi-player experience to Halo possible. ;)

Qft. My lobby is continually running customs with these forged maps. The only way we can create better ones is through testing and redesign.
Send itz Dawkins a message if you want in today. I want to run at least a few games on displacement to check my changes and then I want to run as many of these maps as I can. Hit me up if you're interested. You too, Krillin haha. Tell us how we can make them better firsthand.

Good luck, everyone! Does anyone know how the testing phase will be carried out? Will TLN be using map creators to show testers the ins and outs of the maps?
