Are you using VGA? If so you need the VGA adapter with the sound adapter

Here (http://mktplassets.xbox.com/NR/exeres/061F7058-48E8-4D09-8F73-13F55E01AA27.htm)
You can probably find one online for cheap, if not they're like 35 retail at bestbuy or gamestop
If you have an HDMI input it could save you some money, I have the acer h233h and i use hdmi instead of vga.

My monitor doesn't have one. My VGA cables have the two prongs. Monitor has no place to plug them in.

the xbox vga cables come with a red/white to 3.5mm adapter. use that to plug the sound into your monitor.
be warned, though, built in monitor speakers sound like ass. i recently purchased the bose companion II computer speakers. pricey, but i couldn't be happier.
your vga cables should have come with all of this:

the top left of the pic is the adapter you need
where can you find one of those adapters jew?

If you have TB x11s then the RCA to 3.5mm Y adapter should have came with it.
