umm i know this will sound stupid...kinda like the "did you plug it in thing", but is his mute on?

I've also just unplugged and replugged back in when thats happened before.

If it still persists usually means time for a new mic.

Check the proximity voice in the Audio settings.

Hmm make sure he has the 1st active logon perhaps? I can't remember if it has to be the first one logged in or not to allow you to speak?

If you're playing Reach. Press start. Go from there.

Maybe it's just broke? lol I mean those xbox mics aren't very durable to being with :P

he should try a different controller, if it still doesn't work then the mic is defective. he can probably get a replacement if it's brand new.

try the volume.. then the audio settings in game.. then the audio settings on the profile itself in the xbox guide

I used to rock that headset an I had a similar issue. What I had to do was to turn.off the xbox then unplug and plug back in mic, then turn back on the xbox. Hope this works

It could be your Nat if you two have different Nat types (if yours is opened and his is closed) that could be the issue just restart your modem or router and see if it fixes it.
