Hey guys!
I just had a question to ask all players of Halo: CE, Halo: 2, Halo 3, && Halo:Reach.
What inspired you or got you to start even playing the game, and keep playing it?
Please do share (:

I would have to say the competitiveness is what got me started and just having fun playing with my friends

Halo 1: I would go to my friends house every day and we would all play halo 1. One of my other friends ended up getting an xbox and then we would LAN it. It was all I would try to do in my spare time.

Halo 2: same situation but if we weren't LANning it we were on xbox live passing the controller playing team snipers, cause we thought we were the best snipers in the game lol. I finally got an Xbox and Xbox Live. I wouldn't do anything other than play Halo 2 on Xbox Live. That was my life. I played a lot of Big Team Battle and Team Snipers. I ended up trying out for a clan called QsK and I made it. I thought it was really cool. We made a couple of Machinimas and I got killed in a couple of their montages. I always wanted to make a montage, so even though I didn't have a capture card I would challenge people while I was one shot and do ridiculous things that would make a cool clip. I watched a little bit of MLG cause I thought it was awesome, but I didn't play it at the time. There were a couple of local tournaments that I won though, and I got destroyed at one that had a pretty big cash prize. But mostly I played FFA's on Lockout and Midship.

Halo 3: Again playing every day, I thought I was really really good, but I was pretty bad. I did get a 50 in Team Slayer not too long after the game came out. There wasn't a whole lot of 50's at that time.so I was pretty proud of that. I started playing MLG in v4, I think that's when the MLG playlist took over hardcore. I learned so much in the beginning and became so much better. I ended up trying to get 50's in everything. I got a 50 in Lone Wolves, Slayer, Doubles, SWAT, Snipers, MLG, and a 40 in Big Team and Objective. I got on my first teams, we were pretty successful on GB but my parents would tell me I could go to MLG, but then when the moment came they would make up excuses and I had to tell my team that I couldn't go, and I lost a couple of friends like that. I would win more local tournaments than in Halo 2 but there weren't as many. Halo 3 wasn't the same. By the end of Halo 3 the only reason I played it was because I was good at it and MLG.

Reach: I'm getting ready for MLG Dallas, not playing any matchmaking, only MLG customs. All day every day. I get a viewsonic, a Mixamp, a new Wired Controller, Turtle Beach HPX's, VGA Cable. I go to a couple of LANs. I'm trying to be the best I can. I finally got a sponsor that will pay for the event, and I'm 18 so I can go no matter what. Me and my team have been teaming for a year. Me, Squee, Gopher and Clutch Artist. A week before the event Gopher tells us he has to take a test on the day of the event and Clutch Raged about how bad he was doing one day and quit. So me and Squee pick up Jk00p and Dan Jan for Dallas. I went to my first MLG event and had a blast. We beat a really good team 1st round and lost to Glockomas team 2nd round. Then we got disqualified on Sunday cause we didn't understand what time we were supposed to come. We lost our sponsor but Now I'm trying to see how High I can place at an event. Were shooting for Top 32. If MLG didn't Exist I wouldn't be playing reach right now.

tl;dr MLG is awesome

Wow! Awesome! I'm sorry about your parents not letting you go then!
Well in the Reach season to come, I wish you && your team good luck! I have no doubt you can place top 32 if you believe you can and put forth the effort, which doesn't seem like that's a problem. I'm still looking for two more players and a coach.. so If you know of anyone please do tell me!
And thank you for taking time to respond to my thread (:

i started off with halo 1 (at about 9 yrs old) and i could barely get passed the campaign until my brothers friend gave me a hand. then when halo 2 came out i started playing friends on splitscreen. when we could finnaly afford XbL i thought i was so good.. until i got my butt handed to me.. i met a guy named Dillon (BC Swisa) and he showed me what the glory of MLG was.. after that i was hooked. i got better and better and i started going to local lan centers and tourneys.
i think what kept me hooked was that every time i got on it was another additional amazing memory. the people keep me in this
ive met some truly great people doing what i do and its something that i take pride in.
the community we have is truly amazing.. even bungie is awesome like the whole stat system and the render system.. its amazing to see how far weve come from pong lol

Halo 1: Xbox just came out and heard Halo CE was the best game reviewed so I bought it, fell in love with the story and didnt stop playing and waited for Halo 2.

Halo 2: Purchased out of love from Halo 1 to see how the story unfolded more and played some of the multiplayer (still the best) with my friends and screamed and the end of the story....many of you will empathise here lol

Halo 3: First game I played with Xbox Live and found it so much fun. I thought I was good...until the MLG playist emerged then I realised dominating on kids in Social wasnt gonna cut it for competitve play. After getting 'sacked' by far better players and seeing my rank go down I considered not playing again but the intense fun and joy of the Matchmaking overall kept pulling me back. Ive always wanted to attend an event but as im from the UK there are no MLG events here, plus I dont have the funds to fly to the US haha.

Halo: Reach: New Halo Game....dissapoints me greatly. Can be fun at times but overall its just lacking the intensity of Halo 2 & 3. Also it became really boring and THE MAPS!? What the Hell Bungie??

Yeahh, well I like Reach.
I feel that it's more of a challenge, idk why, just how I feel.
I do agree the maps could be a lot better, and have a bit more of them.

What got me into halo was... well ill start from the start lol. my best friends dad, started dating this girl and her ex never came for his xbox so she gave it to my buddy, and it had halo 1 with it, me i never even new what an xbox was or halo, he told me about halo 1 and how sick it is etc, well we started split screening it alot just goofing around and so on for maybe a couple months? then he told me about how halo 2 just came out, im like sick! so he picked it up we played that split screen for the 3 yrs it was out, not once did we play live, 1. he didnt have it 2. we didnt no how lol, but he was def better then me so me and 1 of our other friends used to 2v1 him on lockout ALL the time.

I pretty much just used the sword the hole time... xD LOVED it! and finally came around my 14th birthday and i wanted an xbox 360 so i could get halo 3 when it came out, my b day happend to be like a week and a half before halo 3 released, so i got the xbox for my b day and rented halo 3 when it came out ( still had no xbox live ) then about 1-2 weeks later, my grandma from the states came down and gave me halo 3 for my bday! so now i actully owned it, i was pretty stoked at the time then the next day my same buddy called me up telling me he got XBL and he's just been playing gears 1 and told me to come over with halo 3 and i did just that, played our first XBL halo game.. Big Team Battle on Last Resort xD i think i got like 12-13 kills or something like that.

And when i went home later that day i had to have XBL it was so sick, told my dad he hooked it up the next day i made an account called dirtysnipexx14 ( still use it to this day as a secondary ) and from there here i am now.

I no alot of you are probably like WOW wall of text, poor grammar etc.. and i would like to say I KNOW lol, its just a website im not gonna proof read etc, but for thoese of you who did read it, hope it wasn't to bad lol!

I only started in Halo 3 about 2 years ago maybe? The reason that got me into playing it was that all my closest friends played it. Which was actually the reason I ended up buying a 360 in the first place. I started playing the game with them and was getting completely destroyed, so I went back to Call of Duty. Got tired of the game being so easy so went back to Halo 3 and stayed there until Reach. Now playing reach even though my friends that got my started in halo 3 quit playing because they didn't fancy Reach so much. So what basically got me hooked on the games were how competitive they were and people actually needing skill to kill someone rather then camping and a shotgun :\

When I was like in fifth grade,, I would always go to my friends house to play halo 2. At the time, my parents refused to pay for verizon/comcast and all the high speed internet junk and we had dial up. It sucked pretty much, but I always loved gaming and on dial up I played runescape for like 5 years haha. In 9th or 10th grade, we finally got verizon fios, so i went and picked up a 360 and the first game I picked up was Halo 3. From fifth grade and on, I would always go to my friends house and just mooch off them and I would go over frequently. So, first time I saw MLG, it was on like CBS and they were showing like guitar hero and world of warcraft. I was so amazed that they had serious tournaments and stuff. So after getting decent at halo 3 I noticed there was an MLG playlist. I went and played it and loved it, after awhile I noticed I was playing teams and getting trashed on. I looked up MLG's website and was amazed at all the events and stuff. I really loved Halo 3 and I am really competitive so I just ran with it.

The story line. That and in Halo: CE when your friends go to play the game then they realize you are there and decide to do something else. It's a good feeling of accomplishment lol.

I Started playing Halo: CE when i went to a friend's house! After that i picked up the game. I always felt something, i don't know exactly what, but the soundtrack throughout every Halo game to me sounds so Epic and Inspirational in it's own way! Maybe that's just me but i LOVE Halo always will, My Favorite Series and Games of all time! Then when Halo 2 came out i got the day it came out and i started to become more competitive with this Halo and as the Halo's progressed i keep getting more involved in MLG and Gamebattles related things! When Halo 3 came out oh my! I went crazy with Forge and Custom games, i played so many infections and races with friends! Spent many hours trying to make an awesome map in forge! Good Times! And Now we are in this day in age Halo Reach! Like Halo 2 and Halo 3, I pick up Halo Reach the day it came out, i still have many different experiences yet in my future for this game, but all of them have been great so far! Love the Enhanced forge and awesome Campaign! I hope the rumor's are true about 343 studios making a Halo: CE Remake with online for the Xbox 360!
Halo 4 Life!
