Hey there TLN Junkies, as some of you may know I'm one of "the few and the proud"
and im making this thread to give you all some info. I know several of you are in the stage of your lives where youre just getting out of school and the military appeals to you, and there are also some that have tried to maintain other means of life and are now at the point where the military would be a good solution to have a life.
Id like to make it clear that i am not doing this to bring attention to myself in any way, and i am not going to down any branch of the military or to get anyone of you to join.
I am starting this because i wish i had someone other than a recruiter that could have given me info, real legitimate information that details the day to day life of a Marine, or any servicemen because if i would have known what i know now... things would be very different
Also i would like to share a little info about my marine corps career. first off, i am not a motivated booter. ive been in for quite a while. i came in right after high school and i have done some things i could never have imagined with the craziest of imaginations, and i have also done some things that seem the cruelest of punishments haha.
anyways i dont wanna draw on too much but if you do not feel comfortable asking me i know of at least Magik (Cam) thats in the Army and im sure he can answer questions if you ask him

Great thing you are doing here Pwnage. I am sure the people who are deciding will be thrilled to have someone they can rely on for real, legitimate info to help them make a decision.

Im not really considering the military but I do have a question, do you make as much money in the beginning as they claim you do? Ive had alot of friends join because they wanted to make more money and they complain alot about being broke, and as was wondering if the recruiters didnt tell the truth, they are just used to the money now and complain about it, or if the hidden stuff you dont realize you have to pay for makes a big dent on your check.

Honestly, the younger you are the easier it is to manage a lower budget (Rank) pay. Because right out of highschool most kids carry little to no debt. So, overall I think it all depends on that, live within your means an I think after time the pay gets really nice. Just look HERE (http://www.navycs.com/2011-military-pay-chart.html).

If you go enlisted you make like 1 grand a month at like e-1 e-2 pay and around 1500 at e-3
but it goes up the more years your in. like im hitting my 2 year mark and my pay goes up like 100 bucks.
you dont make much and you shouldnt need much but when you move around and wanna visit new places and have decent things you spend more especially if you go somewhere halfway decent. and if you dont you spend to make up for it

im not sure at all how TBS or any of that goes but i do know electrical work. i work in aviation electronics and we fix computers and electronics out of the most expensive most complex computers that go into jets and its crazy stuff
as an officer the way i understand, which feel free to correct me, you just get in and then after schooling you get put into a field which may or may not go along with your degree. and again to my understanding youll do more paper work than physical labor

I've been in the military, and since our government is completely retarded, and so is just about every other power hungry individual in the military, I suggest not going into it.
It was the biggest mistake of my life. USA = Bad.
Don't fight an old man's war for oil, just to seem like a hero. You'll never be one.
Edit: Recruiters don't know what the truth is. They will lie to your face just to get you to join. If you decide to join, and they say they will give you something, make sure you get it on paper. Also, there is no signing bonus right now, but if you can ask for one.
Money is really good for infantry people going over seas.
EvilRyu, basically you don't do shit, and you never leave the wire.

Military Industrial complex is calling you...its calling all of us. The question is...will you fall for the trap? Will you be the sword of the empire?
if you dont give a fuck about bad politics and foreign policy...and capitolist greed then its just a job man and if it benifits you economically then do it because a wise man told me that the military is a business.

I honestly do not care about politics, I see the military as a business/job with a lot of benefits lol

there is some good to all this bad that everyone is talking about but at the same time there is some bad.
the benefits are decent retirement and a secure job but honestly if you feel as if you have real potential then take a risk and do what you dream of, if you dont then you arent living up to yourself

There is no good in that kind of job.
Killing people in their homeland for oil.
Killing people.
Stealing people's things.
Fighting a war for an old man's money interest.
Being apart of a corrupt nation.
So on and so on. The list goes on and on.

Communication Specialist. My computers are probably bigger than yours. :p
Also, it doesn't matter if you leave the wire or not. You're apart of false bullshit. I'm from the US, and I'm beginning to believe that I live in a horrible country.
