View Full Version : Why are certain gametypes in MLG playlist?

Well I watched the 4 team LAN, and noticed that there certainly was not any Relfection TS or 1 Flag, or Zealot Territories. (Unless I somehow missed them)
So that being said, why are these playlists in the MLG playlist? I personally think that all three of these are horrible gametypes to begin with and I dread having to play them when I run some MLG.
So is there a reason that they are still in the playlist?
And like I said before, I could be wrong. And if it was in the 4 team LAN and still is in MLG, just politely correct me :)

So basically all of those will be gone in V3?

The Lan they played 11 gametypes, since that way there is a clear winner, goes by quicker and helps them work on the better gametypes. They played Sanc Slayer, Sanc 5 bomb, Sanc 3 Flag, Sanc Territories, Zeal Slayer, Zeal Ball, Zeal 5 Flag, Zeal 3 Bomb, Countdown Slayer, Countdown 5 Flag, Countdown 3 bomb. The reason why the other 5 gametypes (Oddball Countdown, 1Flag Countdown, 1Flag Reflection, Reflection Slayer, Zeal territories) is because they are apart of the MLG v2. MLG makes the playlist, not the guys LANing at TLN ;)

mostly cause bungie is being lazy with reach and mlg are trying new things when that is being a fail so far.

Sundance said that the opener won't be on the west or east coast so somewhere in the middle. Most people are betting on it being in Dallas.

I've heard rumors that sprint is getting the boot from V3. I have mixed feelings about that.

I agree completely, those gametypes and that map is just...bad.
The only reason why Reflection is in there is because it was an H2 map originally and it just didn't work out for Reach.
Eh...nobody is perfect. I would love to see onslaught back though....teamshot would be CrrrazZzyyy on that map! And...more fast paced me thinks.
Amp can suck it...but I did like that map Empire on the mlg forums.

I don't agree with remakes being used in new games, especially competitive communities. Sure, it worked for the older versions, but it is a NEW game and should have NEW maps that are showcased and played on. Bungie was just lazy on the maps I think, but they did put a lot of amazing things into this game.
I think sprint should be kept in the game a long with the armor abilities as pick up items. They are new aspects of the game and the way MLG set it up was smart.
This is only the beginning stages of the game so its a great idea that MLG is testing out all the options. A lot of people are against it, "let's just keep the gametypes that we used from the previous game". Well, REALITY CHECK, it's a new game.
