View Full Version : The Lan Network Is Growing !!

Mr P

Hello All,
I just wanted to say a few things here today, we have been working our tails off for the last 2 months getting TLN and The Gaming House ready for action. I am so excited for the way that everything is turning out so far. The Gaming House is getting close to completion with 27 Pro jerseys already hung on the walls of the house and many other collectibles scattered in great spots. It really has the feel of a Gaming House now !! With the help of Towey and Arek we have wired the whole basement to perfection with all of our ideas coming to life, things I didn't know were possible will be at our fingertips here.
One thing we have done with this wiring, for all the people that are not playing, is set up a lounge area where people will be able to watch and choose between 8 Pov's on two 42 inch HD flat screen tv's, also the same could be done in the great room upstairs on the main level of the house on a 10 foot screen in HD !!
The gaming set up is the best we have had as well, that has been Towey's baby and let me tell you it's really the best set up for gaming I have seen.
With all of that being said, it brings me to the point of this thread, which is, with all of these great things we have now, and the ever growing followers, we have seen some new comers showing up with under 5 post and being very negative. Some of them really don't like how close our TLN community is and how we don't put up with negative posts, after thinking about this for hours last night I feel that this is a Forum of Gaming, not Politics not Religion not Race !! Some people have views on games and others have different views on games, but we are talking about Games.
It is so much easier to be positive, rather than negative. We have seen some new people coming in and posting only negative stuff and these people have almost no previous posts.
With all of our success and growth, new comers will show up, and we, as a community, should show them the same welcome we all would want and give them a chance. I don't want people to think that we are some clique of gamers that reside here on the site. One thing is for sure, we are growing at a unbelievable pace and we will have many more new comers, so let's give them a chance to be a part of this great TLN community, but be sure that I won't let people come in and try to destroy what we have built up. If it takes IP Banning them, then I will as of today. This does not mean I don't want their support or opinions, but there is no room for any negative things here. Remember we are talking about GAMES so lets have fun with it !!

By the way we are getting close to 10,000 members, so tell your friends and tell anyone else that might like this site to sign up and become a member for free !! Let's hit 10K asap !!

Great message Mr P! I had an awesome time getting to help you, Towey, and Arek with hanging some of the jerseys and organizing the wiring as well as just hanging out with Tom, Justin, Mike, and others! Even though the Gaming House isn't 100% complete yet it is already awesome! Those going to Pros vs Joes will absolutely love it! :)

I've been here for awhile and i've said in MANY post how much I prefer this website because of the awesome people in the forums and how nice and supportive they are! For new people, don't get it twisted, that's how people are on this site. I know most other forums on the internet aren't like that so if you want to be negative there's PLENTY of other places to go! But trust me try being nice and have fun! I think you'll surprise yourself on how much better it makes your experience here!

But anyways i'm out... I gotta go drop bars with my hommie T2! :)

Anyways, Thanks for the update Mr. P and congrats on the growing support. It's been said many times before, but I know you probably never get tired of hearing it, so thanks for everything you do and thank you to everybody who has put in the time and effort to create and manage this site. It's very much appreciated.

I like the news of the gaming house, things seem to be going well. And bravo with your response to the negative attitude issue Mr. P. This post addresses (and hopefully ends) the problem in a very civil manor, without getting things hostile.

Way to go Mr. P. I've run a few forums in my day and I know the headache managing trolls can be. The sad thing is that they can never be eliminated. All we can do is refuse them the attention they crave.

Thanks for the update Mr. P. The set up in the house you described is awesome, and I cant wait to watch the next LAN. And it is a bummer about the negativity on the forums but its bound to happen with a growing community, I'm just happy to see you taking personal action early on.

With all of the work (and resources) I have personally seen you put into this, well deserved. I just wish everyone could get the chance to see it and how much effort that entire family puts into gaming and MLG. It's nice to see good people succeed, and that's exactly what the "P" family is. And I couldn't ask for a better pal to discuss competitive gaming with (even when we are wrong in how we predict outcomes:)

This site is incredible and all the upgrades that are going on show the amazing support that has been built around this community. I can remember when you guys where on U-stream and how bad the quality was, and then making the switch to a .com and taking us into your lives is beyond amazing, and the money that you have put into this. Mr.P you are simply the MAN when it comes to gaming and allowing people to be more involved. Thank you so much.

Hello All,
One thing is for sure, we are growing at a unbelievable pace and we will have many more new comers, so let's give them a chance to be a part of this great TLN community, but be sure that I won't let people come in and try to destroy what we have built up. Remember we are talking about GAMES so lets have fun with it !!

My friend recently made a thread complaining that the stream he was paying for wasn't living up to the standards as he thought they were advertised or that he expected. It was locked, and instead of getting any explanation or comment he was told to go away and shut up because what he was saying was negative. This was the first thread he had ever made, despite looking at these forums a lot and not posting. He has been a member of the MLG community for over 6 years, as have I. We both live in Australia and are very active in our competitive Halo communities over here. Dismissing someones opinion because of their lack of post count doesn't really make sense when you say you want this community to grow.

Dismissing someones opinion because it is negative or because they are a new member is no way for an organisation to move forward and grow, and having a forum were no one is allowed to give their opinion, or only give their opinion if it has a positive tone is, if anything, is going to be a disadvantage if you are looking for feedback and what to improve.

How about you dont bash the hard work they do for ALL of us. And, with out any proof any real TLN member won't believe this lie. Flame somewhere else. Honestly, no one cares if you new old here. Why? Because we were all there. And, thats why I have a hard time that this is true..

Mr. P, you forgot my Jersey j/k

From What I saw back in May at the old gamming house to what has been accomplished so far is astonishing. It awesome that the community has grown so much so quickly and I'm sure it will continue to grow at a steady rate as so as the MLG 2011 season beings. Awesome work to Mr P and Mrs.P cooking as well. <3

As it has been said: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." That was a point I was trying to make to a few haters in the stream chat over this past weekend, and sadly, many didn't understand it.

I hope these forums remain as welcoming as they were when I first joined. I will do my part.
