Hey guys. I wanted to start this thread just to see the overall opinion of the TLN community on the topic of sprint in MLG settings. I encourage you to answer the poll question as well as posting what you think and why. Remember to keep it friendly and calm. It is simply a discussion. I personally am not a fan of sprint. I feel that it gives people the knowledge that they can put themselves in a bad position and still manage to escape without some kind of repercussion. Even though I do feel sprint speeds up game play, I do not think it is a worthy trade off. I look forward to hearing the opinions of others!

Yes. It only makes the gameplay better, and more exciting to watch.

Any poor decision most likely will be punished, that doesn't change with sprint in... as much as Sprint haters would like to make you think.

I can honestly say id be happy to not see sprint in halo, but it seems such a core part of Reach now, that i don't think that it can just be simply set aside, that it has to be played which it does cause for some great games but is annoying some times i.e. sprint then beating down :(

The only thing that I didn't like about sprint was touch returns in CTF. But now that it's changed to 3-second return in V3, I have nothing bad to say about it.
Sprint doesn't recessarily get you out of bad situations either, it's actually very difficult to get out of a losing battle with sprint. In situations like that, evade is something that would really save you.

I personally love evade because you can use it to get away, and I would love to see sprint as a map pick up as well. Just not as a starting loadout. And also, it will definitely be less annoying now without touch return. If I had a nickel for every time someone got a super lucky return on me....

I think about it this way, if they took out sprint then that means that beatdowns would go back to two beat downs rather than three which would make it feel like halo 3 MLG and halo 2.

Yeah. If they keep sprint then settings should stay the same, but without sprint they would need to make it more like Halo 2/3 settings. Which I'm not opposed to but Reach should be something different for sure.

I loved the v1.1 settings at the beginning of reach. Then v2 settings came out and I almost stopped playing all together. But now, after playing them alot, I LOVE SPRINT as a loadout. It makes the game faster and you can make the most clutch plays with it. I vote for sprint to stay.

I can't really decide yet. I am 50/50 about this issue.

That's what I voted. Why not both be in the playlist? Be weird to get completely used to but would satisfy both sides.

Ya I am not really on one side or the other. I can see how it helps and how it does not help. This is a spectator sport and it gives the people watching a more exciting game so it will probably stay in forever.

I think sprint is what makes reach, its difficult to take an element of the game out that is actually needed for this game. I dont think you really need evade, although i like it, but i vote for sprint!

If they took sprint out we might as well go back to Halo 3. Reach feels really clunky without sprint. It adds a new element to the game that nobody is used to in Halo. Once the pros, and everyone else, figure out how to play the game and counter the sprinters that stop their flag runs and bomb arms, the game will be very different. If they take out sprint, they ruin this game.

I voted undecided but i think it should be removed imo. However it's a situation where you can't please everyone, some people like sprint and some don't. Seems (to me at least) most pro's don't like it, but whatever MLG did what it had to do. Honestly i never thought AA's had a chance of being removed because of business reasons anyway, but that's just me.

i say compromise: sprint for big maps and no sprint for small maps, like countdown. but on no sprint settings the speed should be 120.

Actually a pretty solid idea. Also makes everyone have to know how to play both with an without sprint. Could work...

of course it should why wouldn't it be there is such a significant difference w/o it. Everyone can notice it. Its just not the same anymore. Sprint is such a positive thing it out ways all the negatives.

I think they just want consistent gameplay. Doing both would not work for that.

reach has finally introduced some risk vs. reward into halo, and I like it. The bloom while flawed now if it worked right would be so awesome because it would add more thinking into a 1v1, and I feel the same without sprint. When people say it allows you to get into dumb sitautions and survive when you shouldnt, I think that is a flawed argument, you wouldnt survive without sprint in that situation, but you have sprint and thus should survive, the game is changing. If I rush 2 guys by myself I should die, but if I have rockets its not such a dumb decision. Once we get used to sprint we will throw out the old standards of how far you can drift from your team by yourself, and adopt new ones. I think anything that lets you rush more than 1 person and have a chance of survival is great for the game, it can give more importance to individual skill which is what halo needs. It also forces you to decide things, like when chasing a flag runner if you sprint you will get there faster, but if you sprint and run into someone they will surely get the 1st shot or 2 and to me that is where the tradeoff is, its not a turbo speed button you have to sacrifice your ability to shoot, the most important part of the game. I support sprint because the game was built for it, it speeds up gameplay, new players are less likely to enjoy MLG if its extremely different from the regular game, it forces you to make decisions, I don't want to play Halo3 for 3 more years, and without sprint grenades would probably make me quit.

I think that the sprint function in reach is ok... what I would really would like to see done is the reticle bloom taken off it's annoying as hell
