View Full Version : DMR Tips?
Hey does anyone have tips on how to improve the DMR?
I can 5-shot, but there mainly always sloppy. Sometimes I pull of lucky ones. .
I would just like to see if anyone on TLN has some tips for the DMR.
Thanks everyone! :)
Lower your sensitivity. It will through you off at first but with practice it gets natural. I know you play on high sensitivities. Try to find the one that keeps your sniper and your dmr about the same. Also you really have to pace your last shot. The last shot has to be almost perfect to kill.

A good tip for any 1v1 battle is to never freak out if someone has the jump on you. Once you start freaking and start blooming your shots you will never win a DMR fight. One thing to know about the bloom of any weapon is that when in bloom a shot will randomly hit somewhere inside the bloom so when your bloom is bigger the is a bigger chance of not hitting someone. So that is why everyone says to pace your shots so that the bloom has time to settle down to the smallest reticule possible. However there are different pacings in shots at different distances between you and your enemy. In close combat you can pace your shots a little faster because a bigger portion of the enemy is in the bloom of your weapon and you have a good chance of shooting him even though your bloom will not be fully settled. Once their shields are down stop and wait for the bloom to settle and slow down your shot to get the head shot. At medium and long range you should just practice on pacing your shots so that the bloom settles all the way down after each shot. Mid range shots are fairly simple in comparison to long and close range battles in my opinion. At long range I would suggest slowing shots even further since there is a small chance of killing someone and every shot on them is important to help whoever is in close proximity to that enemy. These tips are only helpful if you feel that your accuracy is good but you are coming short of winning those DMR battles.

You have to know when to spam, and when to pace your shot. It all depends on how far away your opponent is. last shot always be a little more hesitant, make sure it is a headshot rather then getting him to no shield and spamming at the head 4 times hahaha. Getting down a better strafe will improve your DMR, so work on that too! =)

Thanks baby :P
I don't play on high sensitivity anymore, it's 7-8 now, not 9-10! Haha!

Good. cus I was noticing that sometimes you would twitch a shot and i would not be anywhere close to the guy you were shooting. You will get the hang of it, its a new game and takes time to make the movements natural. Im still learning too :p

slow down shots and sensitivity. i know i had to and tbh i still do spam when i shouldnt but its still that hard trasition to get used to. i have played halo competativly since CE so the bloom has thrown me off but i am getting better. and remember pace shots on distance or if u need to take the risk because he has gotten first 2 shots. good luck! its always a challenge but you can never freak out because thats is when you will start losing all ur battles. stay calm. i think reach is a lot more mental now because you can get in a bad situation if ur not always calm.

Slow and steady. Best advice you will ever get.
I get spammed EVERY TIME I try and pace. Gets frustrating.

hang in there haha. it definitely gets annoying when you are trying to be diligent about pacing your shots and you get spam 5-shotted, but in the long run, it will pay off for sure
Never ever ever ever ever worry about out-strafing somebody. Your strafe should only be used to make sure your shots hit your opponent not to dodge bullets.

time your shots (i used to put on a metronome app on my phone and set it to 80 beats a minute and i out DMRed 90 percent of the time)
check your sensitivity (play a couple games one or down where you are now and repeat until it feels best_
dont get too worked up cause youll throw yourself off
if all else fails try the NR.. it works for me pretty damn well lol

I don't agree with this. You should be able to out strafe your opponents with unexpected movements.

my teammates are helping me with this problem as well. a few tips they gave me:
1. play on a sensitivity you are comfortable with, remember higher is not always better
2. strafe so it throws your opponents off, throw in a jump or crouch also
3. if you have a jump on your opponent and they don't see you, crouch shoot. more accurate and you can pace faster
4. play a lot of octagon lol, works on everything dmr (unless you choose the sniper) from simple aim to strafe/crouch shooting.

Seriously the best tips I can give is, If you don't get the first shot or if someone ambushes you don't freak out there is still a very good chance that you can out DMR them even if they get the first two shots on you....with that said if they get the first three shots on you or somewhere around there than it's prolly best that you run away to fight when your in a better situation. A good quality to have is to know how to move throughout the map, play smart, and stay alive!

When i get in a Dmr fight i slow my thoughts down ( Slow your Mind ) And for some reason it just works. Thats what i do, plus it good to have a sick strafe like me also..
