Not with HDMI, trust me it works i use it
If you used VGA you would have to buy the VGA adapter for the xbox and then you could split the sound but its just gonna cost more money.
I have the normal av cables for the xbox. i cant just use them for the audio. I dont understand whats different with the adaptor and the normal cables

For the record, HDMI offers incredible picture, but not very good response time. VGA is the opposite.

If your using HDMI for the monitor your gonna have to have the adapter i posted. If your using the regular cables, there is no input on the monitor for RYW. If that makes sense

That's not necessarily true. It all depends on the monitor and the way it processes the image. On top of that, it's not the response time that causes a monitor to be laggy. It's input delay. I use the Viewsonic VX2260wm (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktop-monitors/lcd/x-series/vx2260wm.htm) and it's input delay is very low using HDMI.
Justin, do you have any problem with lag on your tv. all these posts are worring me now :/

You can get the HDMI audio adapter for under $10. The only reason the new ones are expensive is because they come with an HDMI cable. The adapter used, by itself is here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P35JMO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002WIG4LW&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1YTDEVENADAWP126YWHH).
I had to get one when I set up my stream, and I found it at gamestop for $9.
