I don't know if this has been brought to everyone's attention, but it needs to be. Here is the link to the best Xbox controller to come to competitive gaming. Whether it will become tournament legal, one can't be sure.

http://www2.razerzone.com/onza/videos

A short description of what this controller is is AMAZING. The most important thing is two extra bumpers. Yes two extra bumpers. So what do these bumpers do, you ask? Anything! (almost) Each extra bumper can be customized to any other button on the Xbox controller with the slightest of ease. For us halo players, this clears up the button layout between Bumper Jumper and Recon (Halo examples bellow.) In addition to the extra bumpers, the second update is the individual twist-able analog sticks allowing you to customize the force it takes to move that stick. There is also revamped A, B, X, Y buttons and individual buttons on the D-pad.

Bumper Jumper Example:
A good percentage of the community play bumper jumper because they carried that setting over from Halo 3. And while that layout is very good, its fault is in optimizing the flag dribble as well as aiming while using armor abilities. With this controller, you would be able to adjust one of your buttons to armor abilities allowing you to enhance your flag dribble.

Recon Example:
I changed over from Halo 3 to Reach using Bumper Jumper, but after seeing some pros switch to the Recon layout, I did too. So if you are like me, this will work great. Now the Recon layout is great for flag dribbling and using armor abilities, but it lacks jumping and harder-to-hit strafe achieved with Bumper Jumper, as well as harder to hit melee attacks. With the new extra bumpers, you could customize your left button for jumping and your right button for melee attacks, just like Bumper Jumper. This allows for great strafing and aiming.

Now I hope you can start to see the awesomeness of this controller. It can bring changes not only to Halo, but all over competitive gaming. And the best part is, it is only $50. So what are you doing still checking out this thread. Check out the link with the videos NOW!

There is also 360 shots and all sorts of things at this website. Enjoy! I do not know if MLG has noticed this to see if they will allow it, but with all the hype this controller is getting it shouldn't be too long before they make a decision. This is too much an offer to pass up for myself though. I got to get one!

I really hope this ends up being tournament legal

This would be amazing if it does. I'm afraid to go and buy this and adapt to the new settings before MLG makes a decision. If they say no, they I would have to re-learn regular controls which would suck. But its too tempting because I know that personally it would change my gameplay tons.

There have been a couple of threads about this, i made one of them, but i preordered it and cant wait to get it. Im more excited about playing halo ce and halo 2, which will make bumper jumper possible and easy button combos. I dont care if it's not mlg legal, im not planning on competing in tournaments anytime soon. The no slow is also a plus

This would make competitive gaming something else if it is legal. Jejitzu, you said there have been a couple of threads about this. Sorry I didn't see them and I just had to get this out there. This is such a big deal I can't believe it. If a moderator comes by feel free to close this. I just had to share it!

Now what will MLG's final decision be?

I think I will be waiting to see what MLG says about it before buying it.

if everyone buys one, then no one will have an unfair advantage, therefore no point in being illegal. but it's unlikely that will happen.

well i think that if mlg looks at it that way then is it unfair to have different types of headsets?

Good point, but I think they are afraid that it may be too easy to mod. (ie: button combos)

Nope. It specifically says on the site that you can't program combinations. And it would probably be just as easy to mod this controller as a normal one.

I know, but that was the reasoning MLG gave for banning it.

yeah... theres no way ANY of these controllers will ever be tourny legal. The only controller allowed is the noslow

I don't understand why it's not legal in the first place?

TLN_Legacy

Not legal @ MLG events for one reason:
The re-mappable buttons

... there's also been rumors that MLG just doesnt want anybody to buy them because they're planning on having another company make "MLG" controllers.

either way im definitely buying one, it looks godlike.

Good point, I didn't think of that. But also, it is better to just wait and see what happens than buy one and not be able to use it.

what if MLG discovers or decides that it's unmoddable? they should allow it for reach at least, rapid fire isn't going to get you anywhere with bloom lol.

The big issue with extra buttons is how easy it is to mod the controller without us being able to monitor it. Modders will be able to turn the extra buttons into rapid fire buttons or a macro like RRX. We cannot simply check every player’s Onza controller to make sure they have not modded it. Sure, someone could do that now with a Microsoft controller, but by doing that they are removing a default button on their controller. People pay a lot of money now for modded controllers with extra buttons that will rapid fire or macro. The Onza would make it impossible for us to monitor this on the circuit.
Just to make it clear, there is no conspiracy here. I wish Razer would have listened to us and cared enough to make a version without the extra buttons, but they didn’t.
Edit: The Mad Catz controller will not have programmable buttons."

Haha more like bow down to KC. I'm kind of glad. This means I won't have to consider buying one.

Pre-ordered day one legal or not. I was hoping to see the tournament edition as a version without programmable buttons but wasn't. Not like I am going to any events, but I think the enhanced design with adjustable sticks as well as the hyperesponse (we'll see) buttons would be a better option for most that do attend. No more shaving around the sticks either :)
