I'm not sure if this was a thread or not already but i need to fix some part of my gameplay. My shot in Reach is pretty good, Twylight told me that at a CT LAN center a couple weeks ago but he said my positioning and decision making were off. I've been watching pro gameplay and trying to work on both of these qualities, which I feel would make me a much better Reach player. If anyone could give me tips, or add me on xbox and play with me that would be great :D I would really appreciate the advice!

Note: I'm a F/A, wanna go to Dallas but i need a sponser as money is a tight spot :/

Thanks Everyone

Positioning also has much to do with what your team is doing. Communication is so important in deciding where to go and when you should make a move. My suggestion would be to definitely watch game play where you can hear the players talking and just watch one of them the whole game. And see how they react to what their teammates are doing or calling out.

Find a pro that either has your playstyle or a playstyle that you would like to have and analyze their film. more than just watching. See where they go in certain situations. when the push, when they run, what routes they take, where they like to situate themselves on the map. Also question their gameplay, think of what they should've done if you disagree with something. then watch your gameplay, literally taking notes is not a bad idea.

Edit:^also shred hit it on the nail

Yea i have taken notes in the past lol, but in all seriousness i try my hardest to communicate and running randoms in MLG playlist is just not good for that. Maybe i should run 4's online with other TLN members. Add me, GT in sig

If i had to give some advice, I'd tell you to always push with your teammates, don't chase kills, and set up on high ground.
And when I say push with your teammates, I don't mean hold hands and run into a 'nade trap. Even though holding hands is good sometimes, most of the time you want to stay off them a bit to help them team shot without giving the other team the ability to simply 'nade/rocket you and get an easy double.
The best, yet simplest way to work as a team, is the good 'ole bait and switch, which I'm sure you've heard plenty about. Find one player you believe is on your skill level, and practice that with them in Matchmaking as a starting point to building a team based around teamwork, not individual skill.

What always helps me besides
Find a pro that either has your playstyle or a playstyle that you would like to have and analyze their film. [which BTW is the BEST way to get ideas] is find out where your teammates are, and then think about the best position for yourself to get the best angle on the enemy, keeping both your teammate and yourself out of harm's way.

where they like to situate themselves on the map.

Most of MLG is about adaptation, to Quote Clutch and Ace, "No game is ever the same." Each player/team you face will take a different route and shoot differently. Having map control and height advantages are a good things to have and something to fight for off the start. Also moving throughout the map and making wise decisions are something that is built with practice, time, and experience. Put yourself in positions where you are able to make plays and help your teammates. If your alone at anytime durning the game odds are your doing something wrong. Hope this helps you !!

There is no one way to improve. I'm not an expert, but here are some of the things that I am finding.
Certain things have to be second nature in the game. Calling out locations instantly, strafing and aiming (though sometimes it can be important enough to place more effort into), compiling information on in a hierarchy of importance (objective, player positions, power weapons), and referencing past lessons on specific types of situations have to be second nature for you to really progress as a player.
With that said, after all these things are done without much effort, it becomes much easier to analyze your mistakes in game, develop new strategies, and incorporate new material. Finally, specifics are the key to the game. Anyone who tells you to try and hold top without using the position to accurately accrue an advantage from such a position did not know why he wanted to control the high ground in the first place.
GL and I hope this bit helps

This is all really good advice. Just pick one thing to improve on every game and do it. It will come with practice. Good luck!

Yeah man that seems to always be a problem with teams i try out for, they don't tell me where they want me. I usually know where to good and im getting better at positioning but it's always me who has to say " go there" or " Follow me " or " Get to a certain position " i think that what i lack is a more pro feeling when playing with randoms. Hopefully everyone who read this could add me so we can run games!

I feel like after reading all this, everyone is right. But the BEST way I think to get better after all this, is just keep playing. It will start coming to you where to go, what's going on and where you need to be/move. Not something you will instantly master, just keep playing and you will always be getting better.

I don't think you will get much of anything by playing if you can't think correctly during the game. You can learn some new things if you take your mind out of the game to consciously make decisions about what is important to pay attention to at any given time and using the information to predict how the best scenario will arise (rather than purely reacting). The problem is that you can only grant so much attention to making plans in game. Even at the most subconscious level of calling out and referencing past information, you will never develop enough without looking through film and creating new strategies to use outside of the game.
