I am bored in class and figuered I would post a new thread. Chances are this is in the wrong spot and I am just wasting my time haha oh well. :)

I know many people on Halo, whether it is Team Swat or MLG, just play for fun. My question is to you who hope to be pro some day, or even semi. What do you guys do to stay motivated, and how do you plan on achieving this difficult task?

same way you do fro any other sport, dedication and heart. if you drive hard enough and put the time in anything can happen. you just can't give up and get down when things go bad. look at some of the pros who have put years into making it to pro status.

nicely put man. :) I agree dedication is the most important thing. But do you plan on going to events with your team or..? I'm not really asking for advice, more for personal opinions and stuff.

Just be confident and patient. I know I have the skill to go pro, so I am just going to keep working on my game and learning new stuff. Once I start a team again, I'll just keep going to the events and hopefully my practice and persistence will pay off. I'm trying to get a job to save up money to go to the third fantasy camp because I know this will help me a lot with getting recognized. Plus I'll learn new things and get a lot better, and it will be really fun!

I would love to go pro, but lets be truthful, more than likely not due to the fact their is always someone better than you. But thats just me, I mean I am what you call a try-hard because I try my hardest to stay alive and kill more. Some kids can just rip me apart but there are some that I can do the same. Anyway, my two goals in gaming currently is to create a map that would be featured on the circuit and compete at least "One" competition to get the experience that would last a life time. But I know time is a crucial effort and some of us are older and time is hard to come by when you have current busy life with a family, job, etc. All in all gaming is in my core, it will not go away by no means, so hopefully I can be more supportive towards my boys, if they get old enough and ask me if they could go and compete in National event to gain pro status. That to me would be my ultimate highlight of my life to see my boys gaining pro status in MLG. :)

All about confidence bro, heck, I know there are people that are better than me, but I will become better then them. It's just a matter of time. I wish you were my parent haha, my parents don't support me at all and it's a huge obstacle.

LoL your parent.. Hah that made me laugh. Seriously though, I know practicing with better people have made me a lot better. Before the only thing I was good at was sniping and swat gametypes. I got frustrated with MLG in H3 and gave up all together and played for fun. Now, being apart of this community has helped me realize anything is possible. But it is a little tough when your always playing with randoms and not being able to really focus on your game when you are worried about your teammates all of the time. Anyway, Im about to get on in a few, lets play.

Yeah, the TLNC is amazing and I would like to thank everyone who is a part of it and makes it what it is since other people are reading this. The MLG playlist and XBL is frustrating but you just got to keep playing. I would suggest finding more people from here to play with since everyone is looking to get better and I am positive they would willing to share some tips with you.

I would get on but my dad blocked my router from accessing the internet. The only way I'm on this is by hi-jacking someone else's connection. I might try and hook up my Xbox to my laptop though and see if it works.

Just add everyone from TLN and I'm positive there will be some people that will run games with you. You just got to keep playing and you'll find more people. I found one of my old teammates through playlist and my team played extremely well together.

to be the best and fame is what keeps me going.

I do it for the love of the games, to prove those against me wrong, and just to be on the main stage playing with people I've been idolizing for the past three years.

I feel it's dedication that keeps me wanting more. You have to know who you are and that your better than everyone ( not be concieded but know you are a great player, put trust in yourself ). I feel if you trust that your a great player and have a positive attitude you can go pro. You have to show no sign of weakness, i go into every game knowing no matter what ill find a way to pull through. Halo to me is 75% mental, 20% skill, 5% luck. Halo is all about where your mind is at and the mental game is what seperates the pros from the joes!

Honestly what keeps me going, aside from the fact that I love Halo and competitive by nature, is my need to beat my little brother (enable) on the main stage in front of everyone watching and thousands online. Followed by me renaming him disable. Yeah thats will be the day thats the dream. lolz. No but seriously its gonna happen.

I think that staying positive and playing the game to get as comfortable as you can are huge. Before me and Justin went to our first event, we had no idea how good we would do on LAN or whether or not we would be able to compete with the best. Not to mention if we did not do well at our first event, our MLG careers would have been short-lived as we were not going to go to anymore tournaments had we not done well at our first event. In preparation for this first event, we gamed...a lot. Our team practiced at least 4-5 times a week, and got along great. Getting along is something that I feel is heavily underrated because when things are not going your way at a tournament, you want a group of guys you can get along with and hopefully fix whatever issue you are having.

well lets see.... plans for going pro.... play halo until either my eyes or thumbs start bleeding ( maybe both ) and have a hell of a passion for playing. Not like a love for the game but deep seeded burning passion for the game that makes you want to play all the time

From my experience, just have fun and enjoy what you are doing. If you don't enjoy the game and get frustrated with it, just take a break for a day or 2, then come back and continue to game. Enjoying what you are doing makes the experience much more rewarding and beneficial.

This works both ways for your individual ability, as well as who you're teaming with. Being able to joke around and have fun with your teammates, in and out of game, is a very underrated point of discussion. A lot more people should take that into consideration, especially if you plan on attending and competing at events.
