Hey TLN. Just in case you did not know there are a couple of web services in the 'crowd funding' space now. Most of them work on a model where people donate to your fund but get refunded if you don't reach your goal. It makes donation feel better to the donor since their payment only proceeds if the project is going to happen.

Some are only for specific types of funds but they are worth a shot. People donating $5 and $10 can go a long way. Check them out:

http://www.kickstarter.com/
http://www.indiegogo.com/

There are also many standard donation services such as http://www.chipin.com and obviously paypal.

You can do this.

Yeah I like the idea of having the money refunded if the goal is not met, just a little more reassurance that the money is going to be used properly. But if Mr. P was handling it, I wouldn't have an issue anyway, he is a business man and knows how to take care of that stuff the right way.

This topic was actually talked about a couple weeks ago when a member was asking for donations for their birthday to go to Pros vs Joes, and ZeroCool had suggested the idea of Mr. P setting up a voting process for a few community members(that could not otherwise afford to go) to be voted on to see who would go and the money donated would pay for their trip. The community seemed pretty supportive of the idea so I think it could definitely work out.

Yea this is a great idea, and as mentioned above I did have this idea a couple of weeks ago and presented it to Mr. P. He hasn't gotten back to me but as we all know he's a busy guy. Since this is being brought up again hopefully he considers it and works something out where we can donate to someone in need. Maybe Krillin ;)
