So I don't know if this will be of as much help as I would like to think it can be, but I would like to help out by answering questions you guys may have about gameplay, VoD, or any tips or tricks/concerns you may have.
So first off let me start by saying this. I am by know means the best or claim to be the best at halo, thats obvious otherwise i'd be on FB right now celebrating a win in Raleigh. Secondly I can only help you with what I know. I will say however I do have a pretty good running knowledge of the game and how its played etc... So for anyone who would like help with evaluating their gameplay or key things you can do with your br/strafe/ghandi hop I will help. Simply put a video in your fileshare with your GT and tell me what slot it is. I will watch it and then help where I can. Also if you would like to learn some jumps, team tactics or ways to setup/ break setups I can also help there with anything that I know.
Remember I don't claim to be the best so I will help with what I know. I can fix somethings if you have an open mind so yeah if you want help or just want to comment then please do so.
Also if you want help with 1v1, or 2v2 post here and I will go online and help you directly.
Thanks for your time TLN :)
I need help with my Ghandi Hop. I never do it because my fingers are not made to tap a button excessively. When and if I do Ghandi hop my aim goes to hell. However I never really have to Ghandi hop... they're already dead by the time I jump anyways. :)

Thats because they gotta stop and be like wtf is that guy doing?????
I think it's funny when people do it. All I do is just crouch when I jump. It's like a Semi-Ghandi hop.

Ugh, I have tried the Ghandi, but never remember to do it consistantly.
OT: If you wanna 1v1 and take a look at my strafe I would be appreciative. I don't think you have to be pro to do that, but I have never had anyone stop and tell me if it's any good, or if I'm even doing it right. Then, we could run games or whatever.

I play on 4/5 sensitivity - bumper jumper.

Shy do you still have trouble Gandhi Hopping even tho you use bumper jumper button layout. That should def help you out man. And I think people get mad when people get there Gandhi Hop on because it seems like the shots dont register as much. Either way its a key part of halo 3 online matchmaking

Gandhi hopping is so natural to me that I'm not even aware that I'm doing it. It's one of those things that just becomes habit. It's like my thumb has been trained to rapidly click after I jump. However, Gandhi hopping is not as important as other aspects of the game. It should be the least of your worries. I would focus on things like awareness, map positioning, and strategical movements based off of your teammates' locations.
Good night, TLN community. ;)

The only time I Ghandi Hop is when I'm not shooting. If I'm no shields and I'm getting shot at I will put my head down and Ghandi Hop. However I have a solid BR and normally don't have to Ghandi Hop to stay alive. They're times in the game where people won't die.. however that's Xbox Live.

A lot of times shy does have a really good BR so normally everyone falls to his shots (and his host) Shy believes I am an exception to this lol. Anyways Ghandi Hoping I believe isn't very helpful in H3 at all. I never have a problem with someone who hops.

Imp3nded said it best, you need to learn to master the main things like map positioning and strategic play. You would be suprised how much more then will help you improve then a solid BR will. Being very aware and positioning yourself well to clean up another teammates one shot is key. I know some MLG 50's that have an average at best BR but them being extremely smart players allows them to compete at the highest online level of play.

That statement I bolded is one of the most important things. I mean my BR is normally very bad and my Sniper isn't the greatest either but I find I'm able to find success at being in the right spot at the right time. Hardly ever do I get a multikill from enemies that are full shield (unless I have the rockets lol) but I seem to always play the cleanup guy on my team because I am constantly able to get behind the other team. :)

Went from 45 max skill in MLG to 47 this week. Beat Gilkey twice to do it. Then lost to him twice... Really badly. Like, -15 or something...
Well congrats on your 47 but this thread has gone way off topic.

^Thanks heuer, so back on topic. I would also like to add don't worry about any of my ranks thats not what is important. If you play with me you will see I have a pretty good knowledge and knowhow of this game :)

Well thank you. You wouldn't believe how easy Deja Vu was dying that game. It was unbelievable compared to you who always need 1 extra shot... but sometimes you died on time :)
The Ghandi Hop is just very intimidating. I get nervous when someone does it.
*Rank does NOT matter. I will always remember this guy back when I was trying to get good at MLG. He was a 47 (3000+ EXP MLG) and was a Brig Grade 3 and he was the best player I've yet to play in this game. I always remember how good he was yet he wasn't even a 50 in ANY playlist. He might not be as good since I've gotten way better at this game. However I will always look up to him. He was sick; I wish I would've still remembered his GT.

Would you mind giving me some pointers/tips on my gameplay?
This was taken a while ago while i was at rank 39 MLG 3v3

This is a 2nd gameplay that i submitted to the last longer competition.... This one is Terabad but it shows me playing against some decent people

It's okay if more than one person reviews it. It's actually better to get multiple perspectives from different players. You'll get a better variety of feedback.

Completely agree the more feedback you get one one type of thing you're doing the better you can do to fix what you were doing wrong / improve on what you were doing right.

I haven't gotten the chance to look at them but I'll try to sometime this weekend. Just curious to see your playstyle in these couple of games.
I watched the 2nd video and this is what I've noticed.
You camped top tower way too long. It helped when the other team pushed training (which was a stupid on their part) but It still puts your teammates in a bad position if they push to the opponents side or if the other team pushes green+long. I've also noticed that you don't use your nades as much as you should. A couple of spawns you didn't even use your nades that you spawn with. There was plenty of times you could have thrown a nade and got an easier kill than shooting 5-6 shots at them.
You made some good pushes to your opponents side when your teammate had custom. However if he dies/back-up MAKE sure you're aware of that. You have no help and have more of a chance to die since you're at their spawn. When the opponent have more than 1 person on your side. NEVER rush them by yourself. You rushed 2 people your training with no help you should've waited until your teammates started shooting them you would catch them by surprise. You also could've stayed alive a lot more. Whenever you're one shot and have a way to get out GET OUT. When you were your plat you could've ran with your head down to your back flag and continued shooting the guy at your snipe.
You also chased after too many kills. If your teammate is near them just let them get the kill. Your shot was a little bit too inconsistent. It would be good for the most part but when you started missing, you couldn't hit them period. I would suggest octagon or a change in sensitivity if you're still struggling with your aim.
Overall: It was average gameplay. You need to work on your decision making and start using your nades to your advantage. Be more aware where your teammates are. Gameplay: B.
*However this was a 3v3. 4v4 would've showed a lot more on how well you work with your team. You should post a game from yesterday and it would be easier for me to have a better idea on how you play and what you need to work on.
itwuzmagik
09-04-2010, 12:39 PM
In the first video you were doing very well.
However things I didn't like seeing were how you chased some kills that teammates could finish or you would leave a power position (aka a high ground spot) to get a kill as well. Also your team had a lot of chances to run the flag and no one on the team is above playing obj. So you really have to gear yourself towards what gametype you are playing. So in conclusion to that some improvements you could make are to stay in the higher ground/ important positions on the map where kills can come easier. Also if you have a chance for a cap take it. Teams that get caught up in spawn killing don't always have things go their way.
On a positive note, you helped your teammates often and you have a very solid Br. You took pretty smart routes which I liked and you took a good opening rush and looked cross map to put shots on other players. Just remember try to always put yourself in a position where you can help. Chasing is not always good b/c you could put yourself in a position where that person's team can kill you. Other than that you did a good job :)

Yea Magik, i have been told that i am one of the worst objective players about. On onslaught, if 4 players were down i would sit on the A or B Cupboard and choose to slay rather then run a flag. Against lower ranked players i have found this works to my advantage, but while im playing customs with the guys here(Who are mostly better than me) i cant force myself positive all the time and not do some Obj time.

Araneatrox I watched your first game you posted and first off its not bad at all its solid. Things I would recommend to try and things to avoid: Do not chase kids lol even if you have a mauler dont chase kids under bases, in the mazes or anywhere else. Try to stay off the bottom of the map there is very few sceneriors for a player to ever be down there one being returning a flag. When you have first shot on a guy dont rush at him and give him a chance to double beat down with you in fact avoid it even if he has the first shot on you. Try to just gandhi hop around and out br him. As far as placement not to bad and you threw some solid nades. All around probably like a B game

Well i just want to say thanks for posting these games :) i think that you have great potential and just need to tweak a few things. Tomorrow I will post two games of mine as well that I will render so you guys don't have to go watch it on live and then you can critique it.
