Fantasy MLG Events?

So I've searched the site (and may have overlooked something of course) trying to see if anyone had posted this suggestion yet but didn't turn up anything.

My question is, would it/could it be possible for TLN to hold Fantasy leagues for MLG events much like they do for LAN events? I'm not sure if this something others would be interested in but I personally like Fantasy Halo and I think others would enjoy it too.

If someone with more knowledge or thoughts on this suggestion wouldn't mind chiming in that would be awesome!

I believe that it is possible but just some stats would not be included since they aren't part of the sheet that MLG releases. I will go back and find Mr P's post about how TLN does points for fantasy and try and whip a list up of the players from the top 32 teams. Should be done by this evening. :)

If drafting happened before the event started then there would be only the top 16 teams to choose from (the rest aren't decided until Friday) but if drafting happened Friday then all top 32 teams could be included. It would work better to just do the top 16 because you can do the drafting for that much more in advance and give more people the opportunity to join it. But like I said I'll come back into this thread sometime tonight when I have this done and try and get it posted somehow. Shouldn't really take too long but I have classes spaced throughout the day. :)

But if we can't for some reason then we will rely on the MLG stats for top 16 but there will be no flag caps included. But next event we will be doing it either way for sure !!

@Itchy: I got a bit of time right now so that I can get started on calculating the stats from what MLG has released.

Just wanted to say WOW! This was much easier than I thought it was going to be. The only stats not released by MLG are Flag pulls and Flag captures. If those were released the complete fantasy stats could instantly be calculated.

Well I'm excited to hear this! Seems like you have a lot of great ideas planned for the future of this site. This one to me has the potential to bring even more users to the community as its just another one of many services no other site hosts. Like Magik said, keep up the good work Mr P.

Another suggestion I have however is that each member only be allowed to make ONE team name that they keep through each Fantasy event. For example if I made a Fantasy team name "Lolz R Us" I'd keep that name for all events to come. Maybe this way the data from each event could be kept for larger scale "Fantasy Season" competition in which each team has a record. Not sure if any of this is possible but thought it would be cool.

@Heuer I'm glad to see it wasn't terribly hard getting the data from MLG either. I wonder how quickly that information is released after each game as live updates to the Fantasy league pt's are always nice :) Is there no way at ALL to find out the stats for flag caps/pulls?

Once every single bit of VoD is out then yes it would be possible to go through and watch every single one and keep very close attention to flag caps and pulls. It might take a quite a long time to do but if Mr P can get screencaps of each game that every top 8 team plays then it would be completely possible. It would be easy to go back and get the games that were played on the live stream because Global is awesome. :) But again the rest would be a little bit of a challenge without screencaps. Once all the VoD is released I will try to add that into my formula.

I also really like your suggestion of one team name. So far mine has always been Team Heuer but I'm sure they'll lock that in eventually.

Yea I'm actually quite happy to see that the top fantasy performers on TLN also perform the top at events. I also just realized I currently have it sorted in some weird manner. It doesn't affect that much but I will edit my post with a screen shot ordered by highest average points.

The last fantasy I had freaking Pistola + FiS and lost.
How does that happen when they were ranked 1&2 respectfully in the final standings of the fantasy league.

I got 2nd. I think I still win something.. I'm not sure. I got first in my league and 2nd in the entire standings.
It was Clutch and ToTz; which I thought their objective would keep them up but I guess not :(
