Who here likes sports? I know I do. I love a good debate or discussion about the NBA or NFL, etc. So I am making this thread to open the debate on any topic about sports right now.
I'll open the floor with the NY Knicks vs Miami Heat game tonight. Who is your pick? Do you guys think the trade for Melo was a good one, How does everyone like the superstars coming together to create super teams?
I think Miami will win tonight just because they have been playing together longer and the New York Knicks have no size right now. I like the that Melo is in NY, and saw it coming for a long time since they said he wouldn't sign an extension with Denver and I think that the superstars coming together is good for the league in that it gives us these exciting playoffesque games in the regular season when they meet. On the other hand for the smaller market teams it hurts them because it hurts their chances of obtaining a superstar because of the migration to these big markets.

I'm going to be the antagonist here and say that NY will win simply because they are going to be hungry to prove that they are a better team and beating Miami is a good start in that. We shall see.

I think the heat will keep it close because of the fact they have melo and amare' but the Heat play really good at home and the Knicks need to learn how to play defense or they are not going to contend this year. I think if they can get it together though and play defense I think they could be the team to pull some upsets in the playoffs.

No baseball fans in yet? Alright, I'll start it up.
How about predictions? AL East is gonna be intense this year. Who would you pick for Division Champs? It seems like the Yanks Rotation may be a little weaker with Nova replacing Petitte, but I don't think it will be too much of a burden, I mean, Phil Hughes almost threw a no-hitter his rookie year. But to see the Bosox with Craword and Gonzalez, I'm a little scarred. And of course, you can't count the Rays out when they have Damon, Manny, Upton and a pretty solid rotation.
I'm gonna stick to my guns as a Yankee fan and call it now...Yanks to win 2011 AL East Division!

Yankees! Good call. I really hate that we didn't land Cliff Lee but we'll see what happens this year. Hopefully Steinbrenner is right about the team taking sort of a year off after winning it all in '09 and regaining their focus for this year.
Who do you guys think will be in the NBA finals this year?
I say Boston and La

The west is going to be crazy this year. Dallas, San Antonio and L.A. all have legit enough teams to win it all. I'm going to say you're right though and go with L.A. and Boston just because of the experience of the two. Hopefully L.A. can pull it off giving Phil Jackson a never to be beaten 4th 3 peat. Only thing I don't like about that is the inevitable comparisons between Jordan and Kobe since both will have won 6 championships with two 3 peats.

I hope so as well. The Yanks have too stacked of a team to not do amazing! And I don't know why Lee didn't end up with us. Did we not offer enough years or something? I can't remember, but man, our rotation would have ridiculous if we had him!

New York coming up big. I figured the Heat would win, but Melo has Lebron's number in his career. Look out for New York everyone if they get things together these next 25 or so games and they can make some noise in the playoffs. Lookout Chicago and Miami!

I'm pretty pissed that you guys got Lee. If they Yanks had landed him it would be OVER! Pettitte left and we didn't really land anyone good as far as pitching goes so I'm really worried about this season. You guys are going to have a sick rotation for sure.

Like seriously: Halladay, Lee, Oswalt, Hamels....are you serious!!! Cole Hamels, former World Series MVP, is 4th in our rotation. There is no doubt in my mind that the Phillies have the best rotation in the league by far this year. When I heard that we got Lee from my alarm clock, I thought I was dreaming or something. But then I heard it on the news and freaked out :)

Solid day in the NBA let me throw down the recap I watched the "Heatles" lose again on 2 last second shots to the Bulls tonight which was amazing. I will say I'm not a LeBron hater, but I do hate Chris Bosh the most out of them all. I can't believe that players would be crying after a game. That's insane.
Lakers beat down the Spurs today which I think sends a statement to the NBA that the Lakers will be ready for the playoffs so don't write them off.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCi4XUfgDow
Man can Shannon Brown hop haha
The Knicks beat the Hawks today which with the Knicks emerging as one of my favorite teams to watch in the east (yes melo there is awesome but I like Landry Fields guy knows how to play ball) and beating the 5 seed shows they have the talent to play with the best
With the Heat losing to the Bulls today also currently the round 1 matchup for the Heat would be the 6 seed Knicks since they fell to the 3 seed meaning the Heat would have a very difficult round 1 match up and IMO I think the Knicks can pull the upset and knock out the Heat in the first round which would be unbelievable.
Anyways there is my post on the NBA for the day :)
Edit: Who saw my boy Jon Diebler go nuts from three today? 7 for 8 and he hit 10-12 the previous game giving him 17-20 from the 3 point line which is insane. Little fact my highschool played against him every year when he was in high school he was untouchable haha number one scorer in Ohio history

In the playoffs the Lakers' size will become a huge factor. Theres a reason why they didn't trade Andrew Bynum for Carmelo Anthony and you're starting to see it now. They used their size to destroy San Antonio. Heres hoping the Bulls will put on a good run in the playoffs. Bulls are 3-0 vs. the Heat this year and I always thought that was where LeBron should have gone if he left Cleveland. Him and D-Wade are basically the same player, and do not compliment each others' games unless they are in the open court. Terrible decision by LeBron to "take his talents to South Beach". (don't even get me started on that circus lol)
Knicks are still a while away. Next year it will interesting to see if they continue to go with Chauncey Billups or try and get Chris Paul/wait a year for Deron Williams.

There are about 6 teams I could see winning it all this year in the NBA if things go their way. Miami, Boston, Dallas, L.A., San Antonio, and Chicago all have a legit shot. Some are greater than others but I wouldn't be surprised to see any of these teams at the top in June.

They have problems in the half court game, which should be exposed even more in the playoffs. D-Wade and LeBron James both need the ball to be effective, and there is only one ball. They have no inside game at all, since Bosh is a jump shooting big man. His rant the other day, declaring he needs to get the ball where big guys get it, is laughable since he's never been a post player EVER. Dude is softer than charmin.

I was just watching ESPN on XBL earlier and watched a clip about the Heat/Bosh. Chris Broussard was saying something about a fairly good percentage of his points made in Toronto were in the paint. But all Bosh has been doing this season is shooting jumpers. I think he could do the post job, just like that tall lanky white guy that plays for the Lakers...

NHL Playoff's are finally here and it's time for the real season to begin. Who is everyone cheering for? Who do you think will win the cup? Who do you think will be big surprise and pull off some upsets?
I'm a diehard Penguins fan, so I'm hoping they pull it out this year even though they don't have Malkin, and possibly Crosby for the season. I really think the Canucks will win it all (Hopefully facing the Penguins in the finals) and finally bring the cup back to Canada. I'm thinking if anyone, the Sabres are gonig to surprise some teams and make a run if Miller can play like he did during the Olympics and steal them some games.
