So i turn on my Xbox Today, Call my Dubs partner and say, "Hey whats good bro, tryna smash in some dubs?" "Yeah sure ill be on in 5". Get him in my party, and i go to switch the playlist to Arena Doubles and notice..."WTF? Where is the Arena Tab?" Upon closer inspection i see that the playlists "The Arena" and "Double Team" have been added to the "Competitive" playlist. Not only are Ratings, Division, Rankings, and the Arena Tab gone, but you dont even spawn with DMRs anymore! Bungie KILLED the Arena playlists, and not only that, now all the kids that think "man, i got gold in arena, im good, and now that its gone i should do MLG!! AR's For noobs bro! 12 shot all day!" are flooding the MLG Playlist. For example, i go from yesterday playing with Special Sauce and Robbie B, to playing with NoNStoPMURdah and JJ MAX ATTACK. Bungie, Honestly, fix this shit. I realize mechanically Reach was designed to be a more family based game, but this is going to far. Now all the loyal fans that thrive off competitive play are being matched up with the 12 year olds that just hopped onto the Halo scene.

For the love of god Bungie...dont screw up this game now right when most people are starting to finally forget about Halo 3 and make the transition over to Reach.

Luckily for us, there is a true skill so after playing lots and lots of MLG, you won't get matched up against PrettyPony58386. Arena was pretty dead to begin, and I am sure that they are going to fix it soon enough. They are doing something with the playlists right now though. We will see what happens, but if it doesn't get fixed, it won't matter that much. Just get your true skill up!

The Arena is AR start? wut? Thats pretty dumb. But I do like how it is team based now instead of individual ratings. All they have to do is put a number rank on, or any rank for that matter, and put DMR start. I'd be pretty happy.

It just came out, let Bungie update it a little and then we'll see what happens.

yeah arena is only 4v4 now and they casualified the doubles playlist. Arena has always been a failure to me, at least they made it win based instead of individual based. Regardless I won't be playing it, MLG for me. Sorry to hear about how it affects you though, I didn't know people played arena.

It has been said time and time again in probably 50 previous threads:

If you don't like it, don't play it.

There are plenty of playlists and if you wanna be super serial you can go into MLG. The reason gaming as a whole is drifiting towards casual gamers is because there is a MUCH bigger market than there is for hardcore competitive gaming.

This. Them taking out Arena doesn't really bother me at all. I barely played it.

Where has bungie said that MLG has a trueskill thing?

every playlist has an underlying trueskill ranking

Yeah im guessing the trueskill thing is based on like your average rating. idk but its a smart guess.

not exactly,

http://www.bungie.net/forums/posts.aspx?postid=14414600

the system is still the same although it is easier to "rank up" in reach.

Agree, I hope 343i does a major overhaul. Like in Tacos' post said " it is only the beginning "

if arena being integrated into the competitive tab means that we could be one step closer to having ranked playlists. then hey im all for it. arena was terrible anyways.

I always found going in with friends removed a lot of the lower level players but the odd one does get in sometimes. No different from when people were playing account for skill they didnt have

i haven't played any other playlist since MLG came out, except score attack. bungie's playlists and gametypes are just god awful. MLG knows how to make a game actually fun and not frustrating and skill-less like bungie's playlists. i don't really care about a number ranking, all that did for halo 3 was make a bunch of derankers, cheaters, and stuff. MLG playlist is really the only good thing about reach, and even they could be doing better.

Various weekly updates prior to Reach's launch.
I don't feel like looking for them, sorry.

Look under the "Mad Skillz" header for Proof. (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=29120)

I dont really agree with this, if we don't voice our opinions how will they know we are unhappy? When the MLG playlist was messed up you can bet if we didn't complain they never would have fixed it, complaining is how we achieve progress, and even if the casuals outnumber us bungie has stated that the arena was for hardcore players and should be suited to them.

AGREEEE D_Moralize !!

We have got to voice our own opinions people. Expand your mind and express what is really on your mind. Free speech ! I will not stand back and do what i am told like a freakin robot. You say don't play it.... well i don't really, my interest has gone into following the pro's and see how they do, but as far as the game goes?..... I will not condone it until a major patch were ever to come out. Otherwise I will sit patiently for the next Halo game which is inevitable due to the massive income it brings in.

I played long enough .... all through 007 :) Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 :) i can honestly just wait for the next one.... or even Gears 3
