Ok so for some reason my reach games keep lagging me out!
my NAT is set to open
my XBL stays connected when I "lag" out
my party will d/c but come back
internet works fine on other computers at same time
Its been going on like this for about like 2 weeks now since I started playing Halo again before on COD or other games it was fine but now halo seems to lag out a lot and it sucks for other players to have someone quit or lag out but also sucks me cause now when I play and lag out I am at the point that its happen so many times each time it happens I get the quit too many games ban so I have to wait to play again :|
any ideas on whats going on?
btw I run a 80 foot ethernet cable through the roof of my house to the room I play games in so im wondering if its the cable thats gone bad or if anyone else is having these problems.

It is probably not reading your maps or their might be something on the disk that prevents it from loading correctly. Something like this happen to me, so i down loaded it to my hard drive. Run Reach off your hard drive when your at the dashboard.
You will still need to insert Reach so that it will pick it up, then let the rest run from your hard drive. Hope that helps, I may have not explain it as well, but hope it helps you out.

From what you described, it could be the cable since other computers are not having any issues. Try using a different cable for awhile (move upstairs if you have to for now) and see if that solves it. If not, send me a PM. I had a similiar issue awhile ago on my own connection and solved it.

I have recently upgraded my connection and have been having some intermittent issue on XBL. My computer will be fine but XBL will just receive huge lag spikes. This has been going on for about two weeks and as of yesterday it appears that its going fine(hopefully it worked itself out). For me its seemed more on my ISPs end.
Like Fatalisttt suggested I would investigate the cable. You said it runs through the roof. Its a good chance it has gotten damaged.

i'm telling you it could be your disk. I was going into match making and lagging out. I then borrowed my brothers disk and everything worked fine. Is there any way you could borrow some ones' disk? If so down load it to your Hard drive.
I lagged out like 4 to 5 times until i switch disk and then ran some mlg where it started reading all of the maps. I would borrow a disk or try moving it to a different connection if you might think it is your cable. I would not rush out and buy a new 360 / cable off the bat

If it were a disk issue, you wouldn't even be able to load the maps at all and you would lag out before the game even started. From what I understand, you are lagging out mid-game so the disk can't be the issue here. Don't go out and buy another cable either (especially not from somewhere like Best Buy or Wal-Mart) right away - just use an existing one that may be shorter upstairs.
Like I said before, I had a problem very similiar to this. It ended up being the coaxial cable splitter that splits the cable feed into my house. The splitter had gone bad which is apparently a common problem with them. It would cause intermittent issues like you described that were only noticable while playing XBL because of the constant heavy use of data transfer. If you find that switching the network cables doesn't help, find where your cable is split from the line in to your modem (it will look something like this http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/3188721/2/istockphoto_3188721-two-way-coax-cable-splitter.jpg with possibly more connections for additional lines). These are pretty cheap to replace and should solve your problem if the ethernet cable isn't it.
Good luck and keep us posted!
