View Full Version : Hello, introducing myself :)

Hello, I'm new to the community and have casually followed MLG for a while (thought pro gaming was a really cool thing - if poker players and fishing can be on ESPN then why not gaming?) Started late in competitive gaming, didn't play XBox Live at all until Halo3. I've caught the bug however, and became enlightened to this community by Totz. If he reads this he knows who I am, lol. I have to say I am very impressed with both the layout of this webpage and the community within it. The forums are all supportive and not filled with the venom you see at some of the other competitive Halo forums, and even the MLG forum. I see nothing but good people here.

A little about myself, I've always been very competitive. I am a hoops junkie, and train like an athlete year round. I take it serious in the weight room and on the court. That is where the majority of my competitive spirit has been used. Being in Bloomington-Normal, there are 2 colleges here (Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan). I usually play with guys from both those teams whether at the Shirk Center or North Gym by Horton Field House. I take pride in more than holding my own with those guys, like I said I take it very serious and training is a way of life for me. Being in the hoop community is much like being in the gaming community, you be around the right people and it helps your game. I will say this - and I'll say this to anyone in my athletic circles who may scoff at gaming - the work you need to put in to play at the highest level in Halo Reach is NO JOKE. It takes so much skill, teamwork, and knowledge of the game (maps, callouts, angles). My eyes have really been opened up to it and now I am committed to trying to play this game at a high level as well. I have so much respect for yall.

I look forward to engaging with everyone here in this community, no doubt I'll find good people to play with and get better with here. I'm going to recommend this site to everyone I can, it deserves all the success it can get. Not lost on me is Totz' parents and how involved they are with running this - Anthony, you have simply the coolest parents IN THE WORLD. I've watched a couple interviews on here that Mr.P conducts and I am really impressed by how much he's thrown himself into this world. He's not just supportive, he's actively involved and knows his MLG/Halo. Amazing. Awesome stuff and great to see.

Welcome indeed. Knowing Totz is a good thing. Have you been to his parents' house or TGH?

LOL, this is what I'm talking about - look at all the quick responses. Krillin - no I haven't been there. Sometime tho, I'll happily take part in the Pros vs. Joes or fantasy camp sometime. More than happy to spend the money to support what the Pennacchio family is doing here. Want to get a little better first tho, haha.

Thanks a lot for the warm welcomes! I suppose I should give out my GT if any of you want to add me - its D Love23, a space between the D and L. Look forward to playing with you all, I have no idea where my game is in relation with everyone here - but I can hold my own when I play smart. My competitive nature hurts me in this game, when I get frustrated I tend to rush and try to push the issue. As we all know, thats not a good idea lol. Need to calm that down. Since I've mostly played slayer, I'm not that experienced with CTF or other objective games, and the strategies that go with them. I'm willing to do whatever to get better, whether its working 1v1 DMR battles, or running customs. Whatever it takes. To me, doing that kind of stuff is much the same as being a basketball player working on your jumper or ball handling, or doing agility/court work. It all helps your overall game.
