just wanted to know what everyones thoughts were.

well my team WnL are competing at Dallas and im going to buy A40s regardless.

but my question was, Should i buy Astros now or buy them at the event?

what would be the difference? would it be cheaper? whats a better deal?

its kind of an important Q so if anyone can give me your thoughts on what to do?

buy now so you could practice with them, break them in, and get used to them

It would be cheaper buying their cause of no shipping. But I would recommend getting them now to get used to them.

Okay... To be honest, you dont really have to "Break in" astros. Just go to the event, and buy them the SECOND u can. Then go to a station and just use them nonstop, you will be fine.

Well some people have touched on this, but I think it would be a good idea to get used to them. You don't have to "break them in" but it would probably be a good idea to get comfortable with the way the feel and sound. So I would buy them now.

Well at the event I believe the whole setup runs $200 (I could be wrong) as apposed to buying online its $250 + S/H. Just like some have mentioned already there is no need to "break them in", but the A40s are pretty sweet and the sound quality is amazing. I would honestly say that it will only take about an hour to learn the settings you like on the mix amp and get use to the feel of the headset on your head, especially since Pwnage has a set and I believe so do the rest of the team. I know that there are plenty of LANS going on between all of us the you won't have to try and get on a station before hand to mess with it. The only problem is that if you wait to buy it there you can't be too sure about when the Astro store will open up before everything gets underway. Another thing is if you buy them online will they be there in time, i.e. shipping problems. All in all its cheaper and more reliable to get them at the event but you have less time to have fun with them before game time. Judgement calls Taco judgement calls. haha Good luck.

I'm new, I don't know the policy but if you have the money couldn't you by them now (they'll probably cost more), then buy some at Dallas then return the previous pair for a full refund.

I don't know the price difference, but I would imagine that they would pay for the shipping back for the refund (if they do refunds), depending on whether you have the money and whether it is worth while for the savings.

It takes a day or two to get used to the headset, within a couple weeks you'll be able to turn around and have your reticle on your opponent split seconds after they've shot.

At the event it is still 250 + tax.

At the event they let you choose the speakertag set you want when you buy your astros. So if you want an event speakertag you wont have to pay seperate for them like you do online, they will be your default.

So you can save on shipping and you can save on the speakertags you really want if your into that kinda thing.

I say get them now. Even though you can get them at the event for less because of no shipping, you can still get used to them now and I have seen events where they sold out, but if you go early you shouldnt have a problem.

Well if you buy them now and they get to you before the event, you can take a picture of them and Mr. Joey Fries can hook you up with a nifty Astro owner badge like mine =D
