Halo: Reach screen lag

So whenever i play reach i get some periods of where my screen freezes and i cant really move, and it's not just on forge world maps it'll happen on countdown and zealot too. I use a Viewsonic VX2233wm and hook it up via VGA, I'm not sure what it could be and it's really frustrating lagging when running flag or in mid battle, anyone know what could be wrong or what i can do to help and fix the problem.

PS: i didn't see a technology section on the forum so sorry if i posted this in the wrong place, but thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I don't have this problem at all. Once in a great while it will do it, but I mean a great while. Maybe 2 times in thousands of games has it happened to me. Maybe it's your internet? :( I use an Asus monitor.

Ok although I do not have this problem, one of my friends had some problems with his games lagging. In the end what needed to be done was because his xbox was older he had to copy the game to his hard drive. By doing that it pretty much cleared up all of his issues. So I would suggest trying that. Halo: Reach is already on my hard drive, and it's not my internet connection this is the only game it happens with. could it be the amount of memory on my hard drive? cause it's incredibly low

edit: i deleted 6GB of useless things on my hard drive, i'll let you know if it worked, if this isn't the problem and anyoen know what is lmk

There is something with either halo reach's graphics or the set frame rate that does it (I think)

How long does it freeze for? A second or two? Longer? I have had this happen to me a few times and each time it did happen, it was due to someone joining the game. It only lasted for a second or so and everyone in the game notices it.

it wasn't due to someone joining it just happened randomly and it didn't happen ever til recently, and it lasts for about 3 seconds maybe 2, i think it may have been due to the 100kb of space i had left of memory which i didnt know it was that bad i deleted 6GB of memory just now hopefully that helps.. :/

Ok although I do not have this problem, one of my friends had some problems with his games lagging. In the end what needed to be done was because his xbox was older he had to copy the game to his hard drive. By doing that it pretty much cleared up all of his issues. So I would suggest trying that. This. I had to actually buy a new xbox, because of this problem due to not enough space to install on the hdd. Fixed my issues.

i may buy a new hard drive(120GB) if clearing space doesn't work, and if not that maybe buy a new box..

I've run across this as well. I don't have an answer. But your not the only one and I have a slim xbox with Reach on the hard drive.

If your 6gb of free space doesn't help don't buy a new hdd, just get a new slim, and install it to you hdd it about $300 for the 250gb. And that is what I have, and it runs fine, it will lag once in a blue moon.

does it your screen lag on all the maps or just forge world maps?

I've had it happen on Zealot. It's not like game lag its screen lag like frame rate issues.

I have a slim and a 250gb hdd. like i said its not all the time but i do notice it. I wonder if maybe its a monitor problem?

god i sure hope not this monitor is only like 6 months ago and i had no problems until recently (about 2 months ago)

I've noticed this issue also.
I have noticed it only happens whenever the game says something and words pop up on the bottom left of your screen (for instance flag stolen, lost the lead, gained the lead, etc.)
That would explain your statement about running flag and it occuring.
Now I don't know why this happens or how to fix it but I'm just trying to narrow down the issue.

I've noticed this issue also.

Ive actually recently been having the same issues. idk why. it'll just freeze for like 3 seconds and im sitting there like WTF? i was in a middle of a battle. if you figure out why tell me please.

It could be your xbox. That my game would freeze up for a little, then I got RROD. :(

Yeah mine doesnt freeze, but it starts glitching out and not letting me control anything. I believe it's the xbox because ghostayame was talking about it and I think he has it too.

I have the exact same problem, and also a viewsonic hooked up with a vga. I never even used to know what screen lag was because it never happened to me in Halo 3, but like a few weeks ago I started getting screen lag in Reach. I'll be in the middle of playing a mm game with my friends and I hear all the normal sounds, but my screen is frozen for what feels like forever but is really only like 5 seconds. It's really annoying, not to mention I lost a game because of it... If you find a solution lemme know.

ill probably look into it about the memory. my xbox really only does it for halo which is weird.

Every few games my xbox freezes three times for about 5 frames.. I think thats what you're experiencing..

randomly I have the exact same monitor as you :P

Riot it's not the disc trust me, but make sure reach is dled to your box, and I'm not sure if this helps but having a substantial amount of memory is good, also itll always happen in forge world, also eamon check your screen res make sure it's at 1920*1080. I gamed for about 9 hours today (a lot I know) and I didn't get any screen lag whatsoever. And this was after clearing space changing res

Yea I only screen lag very rarely...like on original version of asylum when looking from snipe to snipe...but thats about it...I don't screen lag that much so i don't know what to tell ya..

i get this on firefight, but that's all..

reach in general has some pretty bad framerate issues, something i hope they patch in the future.
