Hey guys. I just bought a VH242H Asus monitor. It is very similar to what they are using at the Gaming House. The only problem is, I am getting extreme ghosting and blurry images with this VGA. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried all the different resolutions on the xbox.

that monitor has a 5 ms response time which could be the issue, but it shouldn't have bad ghosting unless the monitor itself sucks. you should always use 1920x1080, and there might be some setting on the monitor, like a response time setting or something, that could cause that. also, are you using the microsoft vga cable? because my friend got a 3rd party one and it was complete crap. if none of that works, then try HDMI, and if that doesn't work, then all i can say is get a vh236h.

I have the same problem with my Acer H213h.

Are you using the official microsoft VGA cables? I've heard of people having ghosting problems with the Intec $12 cables.

I have an Asus VH202T with official MS VGAs, no problems.

Yeah, I do have that $12 Intec VGA. I'll try the MS approved one. Thanks for the responses guys. Also, I think i can still return the VH242H and trade it for the VH236H. Would you all do that? Is the 2ms really that much better than 5ms?

well, the 23" one is the official one, and 2 ms is definitely better than 5, but it doesn't make much of a difference. and yea, those 3rd party vga cables are terrible, the microsoft one is excellent.

Yes, the cheap VGA cables are causing that ghosting. I had the same problems before. And 5ms is great. 2 ms monitors are actually 5 ms just with a mini amp. The human eye can basically see no difference.

@Cuzz, FOR SURE TRADE IN FOR THE NEWER ONE!!!! It's what MLG will be using anyways, and it will clear up any questions concerning blurring / ghosting on the monitor's side of the argument. If continues to occur, try either component or HDMI cables. Also, I fully agree with the fact that the name brand Microsoft VGA cables is the way to go. PS: mess with the settings / users guide.

The old viewsonics were 5ms, but those were mainly used for Halo 3.

Now i think they upgraded to 2ms because Halo Reach has higher graphics with
more stuff going on at once which may cause ghosting etc.

Just return it, get 2ms but make sure your monitor has HDMI.
