I used to strafe ALL the time in halo3. switching to halo reach i cant find a good strafe. it just feels so different strafing on halo:reach. ive been working on a strafe . its alright but i cant seem to do that when im playin matchmaking or MLG customs. Could anyone share their strafing techniques? or show me in game or something (:

One of the many things we are told to adapt to...
but, my suggestion is to instead of moving your joystick from left to right, try to move it in a circular motion.

quick random movements to try to disturb the other player. throw in a crouch here or there

Don't strafe much. Just out DMR. It is rare to be thrown off by a strafe. Plus, even those that have it usually have theirs figured out pretty quickly by skilled players. I have some maneuvers of my own though...

I was kinda wondering this too.... What I usually do is kind of a H3 SK Lag strafe (move your joystick right and left really fast), except I add some crouches into my movement as well which seems to help. Keeping your strafe as unpredictable as possible also seems to be key in winning DMR battles.

A lot of people say I have a nasty Strafe (It looks like im lagging) and im far from an online warrior. But what i do is when im up close i try to do an SK strafe with some long lefts and rights thrown in. When im mid range i normally go long one way short the other way back long then do it again but in reverse. I watch replays and it looks like i'm ice skating xD. But sometimes a very fast strafe can throw off your own aim so you gotta practice it a lot.

But to get the strafe up to speed you need to go with your momentum. You will start off slow for a second then your guy will pick it up. That is why sometimes its just better to crouch instead of strafe since you may be already a few shots down and can't really build the momentum up to out strafe your opponent.

Not sure if i have a very good strafe, i think i just use the typical side to side mixing in a crouch... As people said strafing doesn't really throw people off in this game. Well to me it doesn't...

I beg to differ. I'm no spring chicken with Halo, and I'll lose the occassional battle solely because someone pulled a nasty strafe on me.

Nice way to start the day off with some LOLS.

OT: No one should be strafing anymore, it's all about the J-Dot hop.

nah, with me, im trying to adapt the ghandi hop and crouch into mine. its mostly moving left and right.

my teammate has an amazing strafe. he moves the stick in a circular motion to the right, and then in the middle of a DMR battle he switches it up and moves his stick in a circular motion to the left. it works really good for him. but it's hard for me to do.

I've seen some people SK strafing in Halo Reach, I don't know whether it was lag but I'd be happy to find some video of a guy doing it to me.

It was in the MLG playlist and the strafe looked a lot quicker than what you could normally do. My understanding of an SK strafe is moving the analogue left and right without actually touching the sides.

I would be as random as possible with your strafe.

Strafing is next to pointless with a good teamshot, so dont waste too much time perfecting one.

Crouching works well in Reach, also crouching makes your bloom reset faster, so yea...
