As i sit here watching the clock slowly tick down the numerous minutes until the bell will ring, i couldnt help but thinking about the thing that preoccupies most, if not all, my free time. I remember reading the plethora of "Hi! my name is ___ :D" threads and reading some of the stories within them. A lot of them, including mine, talked about what made you first become interested in MLG. I want to take it a step further. I'm curious to know why so many people stay faithful to MLG. For me, its the idea of an equal playing field. In athletic spots, some people just have a natural advantage whether it be their height, weight, or natural athleticism. I feel as the cyber sports provide everyone with the same opportunity for success. Now there is one part of MLG that seriously depresses me, the use of "preformance enhancers". I remember going to Dallas, and I was offered some Addy, from my teammate. I of course declined it, even though it wouldnt affect me due to my ADHD. However, just KNOWING that pros and amateurs alike use these drugs just irks me to no end. Energy drinks are one thing, but Prescription medication? Thats just wrong. Despite this knowledge, I still have a love for the game that i have only started oh so recently :). So tell me TLN'ers what makes you stay faithful to MLG?

I just love games and the competitive side to it. For me, MLG gives console gamers the best chance to play a competitive and fun game. And its fun to watch :)

I've put too much time/effort and sacrificed too much to quit now and walk away with nothing expecially since i'm so close and I don't quit. (unless I'm on reflection then I quit ;P)

I first got into MLG when one Saturday morning I was channel surfing and on usa or some other network they had the Pro-Circuit on and it was the Finals of Final Boss vs. Carbon and ever since then I have wanted to experience something like and and since then I have basically only played MLG :) I love it and can't wait to attend a PvJ this summer

I want the feeling of being on the mainstage and every one chanting your name or yelling "ohhhhh" when you make a sick play.

I lol'd at the reflection part hahaha.
For me, I guess it is just how much I enjoy gaming. Don't get me wrong, it frustrates me quite a bit, but it's a love/hate relationship :D
And I like to win, which i find myself doing quite a bit ;)

My spark is just the fuel for competition. I am a very competitive person, and MLG is so awesome for that reason. First started when I played Melee, then I went to MLG Raleigh. That reignited my passion for Halo, so here I am now on TLN haha.

halo 3 was the biggest thing for me. the game basically changed my life. my friend told me about mlg in 2008 and i got hooked as fast as i got hooked on halo 3 (about 4 seconds). there was so much new stuff to learn about the game that i never even thought of, and all the teamwork and strategy that go into winning all the different gametypes, it was just amazing. i love the nonstop action and excitement of the game, and there really is nothing like halo.
unfortunately reach is disappointing me, so i don't play it nearly as much as halo 3, but i still like watching it.

honestly the thing that kept me in mlg when i was about to quit was when Roy, in h3, told me my Br was dirty after i out br'd 2 kids at half shield. from then on ive been fully into mlg.

I agree with the Addy comment. Good diet and exercise can accomplish pretty much the same thing. I love MLG because I'm too old and broken down physically to compete in real sports anymore. Gaming gives me the opportunity to at least play against the best and see where I stack up (poorly). I follow because of OG2 for the most part and now I've made a bunch of good friends that I can't wait to see from event to event.

I remember watching competitive Unreal tournaments with the legendary first real professional gamer Fatal1ty (Johnathan) and old Sc1 tournaments. Gaming is awesome and because years from now when esports hits it really big I can be like (smug) "Yeah, I was totally there for that."

That and when my girlfriend takes me to baseball games I get in trouble for scream "get owned".

Cyber sports are unfair if you're canadian, because it makes my shots hit and makes everyone elses not hit.

Antidote; I went to a UVA and W. Virginia basketball game last month and got several looks from the group of guys in the row below me when I yelled, "Nice move you Noob!"

Wait... How would Adderall NOT affect you if you have ADHD? I have ADHD and I take Adderall for that very reason.

Adderall doesnt affect me like it affects ppl WITHOUT it. There is no reason for me to take it as a performance enhancer because it wouldnt do anything

The funny thing is that your implying that PRO's in general use Adderall. Most don't, unless it is a legitimate prescription. But sadly a small majority of the AM teams use this drug. FACTS > rumors

Competition is what makes me tick. I may never be the best, but I'll try my hardest regardless, it's just fun to be super competitive.
