Inexist Pro's Vs Joes Blog
Hey everyone. First off I would like to thank everyone who supported me to realise my dream of attending a fantasy camp by making the 4000 mile trip so worthwhile. The only daunting part was going it alone on the flight until I reached the arrivals at each airport. If you haven’t flown to the US on your own before, take it from me its quite nerve-wracking and you need guts the first time.
Before Pro's Vs Joes
When I first arrived at Chicago O Hare I did not know really what to expect, a huge massive airport? Well I was right about that, but I still had no idea just how vast it actually was! I was so pleased to see Mrs P and Gianna at my arrival and we soon winged our way to the main house in Bloomingdale. Once we got there I looked around and thought what an amazing place! I was then introduced to Totz and Fear who were working out to that P90x! Even though I was pretty jet-lagged I was still really keen to see what the Gaming House looked like so Fear offered to drive me there. When we got there I looked around in awe and thought it looked 1000x better than it ever looked on the cams, then in walked Big Daddy! I set up most of my gaming equipment and then I was invited back to the main house to have dinner with the family where I was introduced to the main man himself, Mr.P. After a lovely meal, jet lag slapped me and I couldn't think straight and I crashed out on the couch hoping that in the morning I would be more with it! For the next few days I had a very enjoyable and great time with the family and I was able to meet Lunch and Roy earlier and spent time chilling and gaming with the guys. They kindly gave me some Instinct memorabilia which I cant thank you guys enough for. I also had fun getting destroyed at table tennis – just wait for the re-matches, I will be bringing my gear over when I next come down! We had a long chat about everything, especially tennis and they'd love to go to Wimbledon sometime – Note to self - I've got to get them over here! All too soon it was time to prepare for Pro's v Joe's.
Pro's Vs Joe's - Day 1
Meeting every Joe face-to-face was a great experience and we soon got chatting and socialising. We all got some practice in before the drafting which was a good thing because there were still people arriving from the airport. When everyone was there the drafting began which means that the Pro's evaluated your talents. After about an hour and a half of play we all got together in the gaming station where Mr. P. announced which of the Joes were playing on which Pro's team. For example, I was on Team FIS along with Perilous and Eclipse. Out of all the Joe's I was privileged to be picked which hyped me up even more and I didn't want to let Fear down so I tried to stay on top of my game. Once all the teams were chosen there was just enough time to play one series before the time change as everyone was tired and wanted to get some sleep and Me, Towey, Totz and Lunch went back to the main house to sleep there.
Pro's Vs Joe's – Day 2
We started our series off around 2pm with Mrs. P and Michelle creating the best food I have ever tasted in my life! We all finished gaming around 2am and we were all pretty exhausted. Our team got literally destroyed and everyone was getting quite annoyed at times but we started to pick up our game half way through and started to win some series which made our team happy.
Pro's Vs Joes – Day 3 – Tournament Sunday
We started our first series off really well knocking out Team Totz to the losers bracket but everything went a bit downhill from there and we took 3rd place but hey! Its all about having a laugh, the experience and having a great time right?
After Pro's Vs Joes
After Pro's Vs Joes everything started to settle down a bit with everyone leaving and and we all just casually chilled. Had Big Daddy T doing the Laundry for me! He thought it was Pro's Vs Joe's but not Pro's Vs Clothes! But I made up it up to him by complimenting on the best Pancakes no doubt! We all got some good gaming sessions in with the guys and had a Dance Off With T2, I don't think any of us won but hey we need to do better next time right?
My last full day in America Mrs. P and Michelle took me to Chitown to enjoy the sites of the Windy City. I was able to see some of the famous monuments such as “The Bean” I was amazed at the high towers and the highlight was seeing Trumps Tower as I have been watching “The Apprentice USA” on British TV. The shops there were amazing! So big and so much choice didn't know where to start so we headed to the Chocolate sections first then to the clothing shops! Mrs. P showed me Mr. P's favourite hang-out restaurant, I’ll treat you all to a meal there when I come back, that’s a promise Mr. and Mrs. P! I really did enjoy my day out in Chitown, I noticed the traffic was bumper to bumper on the way out – no different to the UK traffic there then!
The Food!
Well what can I say? The food is out of this world and more some! Mrs. P and T2 are brilliant cooks and great hosts. The food in Chicago – America doesn't compare at all to what they serve up over here in the UK. The quantity is at least double the size and double the taste. My favourites were the real Chicago Beef Subs, Chicago Hot Dogs, Chicago Pizzas (which I can't remember the name of) and that Chicken Hot Pot Pie which me and Mr. P always joke around and call it the Hamshire Pie!! I will never forget that Chicken with marinated cheese on top I loved it!. Can I just say I loved everything!? We still need to try more for sure but thank you so much Mr and Mrs P, Michelle and Big Daddy for feeding me so well!
What I have learnt from PvJ 2.
During this time I have learnt so much in game like the connection on LAN is so much better and cannot compare to online connection and that the shot registration is perfect and with the new monitors it feels so fast and you certainly notice the difference. I proved quite a few people wrong who thought that I would get destroyed because I only do well using a British connection which I found quite ironic when I was placed top Joe with Towey?
All the people there were so nice to talk to and get on with everyone is amazing I think me and Benjak talked for about an hour and a half? What a great guy and I hope to see you soon brother.
I have learnt to be more aggressive in game as me, Big Daddy, Lunch and Roy were having a talk about how to be aggressive and when to be aggressive and because of these talks, my game has definitely changed. This is the experience you get from PvJ for sure and that people will agree with me on this!
If any of you want to go to PvJ I would suggest anyone of you to get a spot for any of the events before they sell out and trust me, it always sells out very fast! And if any of my English boys want to go you must be committed and you must be willing! But trust me, you will have the best time of your life at the Gaming and the Main House if you are invited!
I will be definitely be back for another Pro's Vs Joes so Tom Taylor … Get that washing machine back on!
Special Thanks and Shout Outs.
I would love to thank the Pennacchio Family for their amazing hospitality and looking after me so well during my time in the States and I really do hope to see you soon.
I would love to thank Mr. P and Mrs. P, Michelle. P, Justin and Jason, for everything you have done for me and the gifts that you all gave me and I love you all very much and I hope we can all stay in touch and that the next time I come down I will return the favour I promise.
I would like to thank Big Daddy for looking after me for the time spent at the Gaming House and the slavery job of doing the laundry for me! We have had so many laughs and there will be more!
Special thanks to Fear for being so patient with our team and that I am sorry about not winning you back to back tourneys but ah well... Maybe next time.
Shout out to my Mum as none of this would have been possible without her. Love you loads!
Huge shout outs to all the Joe's. My Team-mates Fear, Eclipse and Perilous was a blast guys.
Thank you for reading this account of my amazing experience spent down in the Windy City. See you soon.
