Hey everyone,
I have never posted anything on any forums so I hope that I dont mess this up too bad. I have the Tritton AX 720 headset right now and its the only one that I have used. The other day I was looking at getting some Astro's but as I did further research, it seems that not all people love them. I know that Triggers Down used the 720s so they have to be somewhat decent...
So i ask you all at TLN, should I keep my 720s or order Astros or just order the Mixamp since the 720s have pretty good sound?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have Astro A40s and a mixamp. Since you already have a good headset just buy the mixamp. Unless you like the idea of having a headset that is easily customizable, rests on your shoulders easy, and a case to carry em in.
I would just buy a mixamp for now though. Then again I'm the type of person that has to get the whole set of something if not I would be annoyed. But thats me.

I have an astro mixamp and two headsets and I love it all. I have never used anything else though, so I have nothing to compare them to.

The Astro Mixamp is a must but the headset not so much.
Here are my results for the Astro A40's vs Turtle Beach HPX's vs Sennheiser pc350's
Astro A40's are #1 in comfort but #3 in sound
PC350's are #2 in comfort but #2 in sound
HPX's are #3 in comfort but #1 in sound
I have used all 3 headsets so this isnt coming out of my a**. The HPX's are not for big eared users and can get uncomfortable. But for the price its a good deal. PC350's are only 40-50$ more then the HPX's and are another good option. Astro's seem way to overpriced to me but in the end its your choice.
Astro a40's + Mixamp-250$
HPX's + Mixamp-220$
PC350's + Mixamp-240$

Astro's for sure I've had a few different headsets. Turtle Beaches, and triton's both. I am much happier with my astro's :)

I have to agree with this one. The Tritton 720s are definitely no joke and they are a good headset so I would recommend just getting the Astro Mixamp for now. If you decide later that you really want A40s or another headset, you'll be able to plug-and-play with the Astro Mixamp so it works great! :)
I was also thinking about ordering some Astros A40 - I like being comfortable while playing, so it not having the BEST sound. It's fine with me.

Anyone have thoughts on the A30s? I was kinda considering them.

Personally I own a pair of White A30s w/ Astro 2010 Mixamp. They have fantastic audio quality IMO and they are a little bit easier to have on-the-go. The boom mic has worked fantastic for me so far and the inline mic works great too!

The real kicker for me, is the support you get from Astro. I have sent my headset in once, and had it completely replaced no questions. This was during warranty.
I have had the 2.5mm cable replaced twice for free since they do not sell it.
I have also had the headset replaced once at an MLG event, on the spot, no questions, post warranty.
I run my stuff through the cleaners with the travelling I do, and Astro has been good to me all the way.

Good to know Jeremy. Ever thought about selling 'em??? :) I've been looking into the A30's as well but I can't justify the price new vs. the A40's new w/mixamp...even with their special right now its only a $50 gap in price.
My little brother has the Tritton Ax720's which IMO are alright at best...unfortunately he doesn't have the mixamp so he's using Tritton's little box interface, so that could be why I don't think highly of them yet.
