I recently got the new Asus tv and had to order the optic cable for my astros to work. I just got the cable today but where am I supposed to plug it in. I know it's usually at the end of the AV cable, but I don't use that with the tv... Any help would be greatly appreciated. =]

You plug the optical cable into the mixamp and then the back of your vga cable on the xbox (its the little black hole)

there's nowhere to plug it in. All I have in the back of my xbox is the power cord and the HDMI. neither of those have spots for my optical cable.

Using HDMI is the problem. For the true mlg experience feed the tv with vga from the xbox and yuou get your optical cable back. HDMI carries the audio as well and therefore you have no optical out. If your tv has an optical out maybe that will carry the audio to your mixamp. If not then vga or component are your only solutions.

I think I know what is going on...

If its the older gen xbox which I imagine it is, what you need is an adapter kit. Like you said you would usually plug your astro's optical cable into the component/composite and then into the MixAmp.

You will need a kit like this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-HDMI-Cable-Audio-Adapter/dp/B000VUVCK6 (Sorry its in the Uk but you should be able to find one in the USA)

The HDMI isn't important, its the adapter part you need (you may find it on ebay), it plugs in much like a component/composite and at the end has both RCA Red and White Female input and a Optical female input.

Then you plug both the HDMI and the adapter into the Xbox and run the optical cable from the adapter to you MixAmp.

@chris_cr33p: Just to let both of you know with the kit in the link, there will be no spacing issue's with the adapter and HDMI cable plugged in at the same time.

This is what you need to do...

Either get a Microsoft Xbox VGA cable (http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-vga-hd-av-cable/40681)

an Xbox HDMI audio adapter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002P35JMO/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000UODATY&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1HTQHJJ4S1ZRZ2TFX18J)

or you can use one of the other cables that come with your mixamp.

^^^Would suggest the HDMI and Adapter, as it supports a higher resolution.

I use the little HDMI Audio Adapter, and it works great for me. I even bought a cheap-o generic one off amazon for like $3 and some shipping.

there's nowhere to plug it in. All I have in the back of my xbox is the power cord and the HDMI. neither of those have spots for my optical cable.

If you are using the slim there is a TOSlink output on the back, but with HDMI on the original xbox you will need a cable that is not made any more, just looked for about 30min and can not find it. But it plugs into your HDMI Port and gives you the audio ports as well as an HDMI port so you can still use HDMI

are you using a television or monitor? i'm sure a television has audio outs that you can connect to the back of mixamp.
