View Full Version : Reach Custom gametype ideas - Updated

As a few of you know when Reach comes out I'm going to spend a few hours working on customs for us. So far we've got 8 possible ideas for game and map variants. If up to 3 of these don't work we'll still have a 5 games series that includes TS, Ball, CTF and Hill.
- Asylum TS (with Sword at Bottom Mid)
- Asylum CTF (with Custom at Bottom Mid) - 3 flag
- Reflection TS
- Pinnacle Ball
- Sword Base King
- Sword Base TS
- Countdown TS
- Blackout Ball
- Warlock 5 Flag
- Warlock TS
- Amp TS
- Zealot 3 Flag
Updated with gametype/Custom maps that i feel are decent enough for Customs. Ive been having trouble finding decent maps for the purpose of MLG settings. But i think i have a decent 11 game series here

I like these rather well, my only question is how will countdown play? From the videos I've seen, they have made me skeptical. But I am completely open to the idea. (plus I haven't even played it yet) Good list though.

Well thats the thing, Countdown is one of the wild cards that i stuck into the game. Im hoping that we can get some customs onto the game first and see how it plays. From the looks of it, its a rather close quarters narrow map, So i personally think that TS would be the better gametype rather than the Oddball.
But as i stands now, i cant really see a decent place to put the oddball gametype. The only other suggestion for it would be Zelot, but im still unsure about that map in its entirity. Currently it reminds me of Construct, 3 levels with lift going from the bottom to the top floor with a large open are in the middle.
But everything is a work in progress, so i'h hoping to get some testers together at 12am on Tuesday to help me get some things sorted.

Yah I see what you mean. I like that you have ball on Pinnacle, I think that would work well. And I understand it's all a work in progress right now, I just hope countdowns not a nadefest (similar to orbital). But yeah, my plans the first day is to just test everything out, so I guess we'll see where it all stands after that.
Edit: Oh, and does zealot still have that outer space portion on it? I never saw that in gameplay videos. (but I haven't watched many.)

switch countdown ball for cage ball imo
yes zealot still has the outer space area, i watch reach streams too often/right now

Well Impended, i was playing with the idea of having a 30 second 1.5x Damage amp Custom in the Asylum CTF - I think this would work well, it would encourage a nice push every now and again. Just what i had in mind

Hey guys, I've been working on some gametypes for TLN. Got the main gametypes down now, just need appropriate maps. I've put what I've managed to scrounge together on my File Share and they are okay at the moment but I'm working on more.
So far the compatible games are:
- Reflection TS
- Amplified TS
- Warlock TS
- Lockout TS
- Lockout Ball
- Warlock 5-Flag
EDIT: - Asylum 3-Flag and Asylum TS are also ready to go
Please note that while I've made a 3-flag game type I haven't got around to setting up the appropriate maps for it, but I'm thinking probably Asylum would be best for that. Btw, the 3-flag variant is Pit-style settings as opposed to Narrows-style, but that can easily be changed.
