I've thought about this for so long. This is one of my dreams for halo. It's hard finding people to play octagon with. Also, they can come out with incredible octagon maps just like have already been coming out. But yeah just vote. OH yeah i would mostly want instant respawns but they might can work something out without them especially with multiple players

Others reading this should post their gamertags for octagon (at least to play with people on your friends lists until they get the playlist running lol)...oh yeah i have the h3 style spawn kill map too but i like the spread out spawns also, sometimes

MAYBE if it was a 1v1, but if its over 2 people, it screen lags terribly (well the versions i've played of it)

ok i think some of you are getting confused which is why this conversation has spread to 1v1s. I don't think the octagon should be just 1v1's. A lot of the time i prefer more than just 2 people in the octagon. I'm not going to make another poll for this one right now lol but just think about it...Don't you all have a lot of fun in octagon with 3 and more people? Personally i find it fun with even 6 or more.

I think this goes back to Halo 2 days. Bungie saw a big part of the community playing Zombies and they wanted to incorporate that into matchmaking so everyone could experience it.

Although Bungie had to create actual game rules for these games. If Bungie just told everyone to change teams once they die and not to use the magnum the play-list would have had no chance in hell of working.

Now the 1v1 play-list in Halo 3 did not last very long. This I think was largely because they put objective in a 1v1 play-list, to me that seemed a little moronic.

Obviously all maps used would have to be picked with the requirement that there was no screen lag or minimal. Settings should be maximum party size one. To reduce the chance people will team up on one player, this is obviously only if Bungie used a 3 or 4 person FFA style or octagon.

You could also consider a tournament style play-list, using eight player match sizes. Three rounds, one life each round. Bungie could take a note from COD to improve the quality of the games (never thought I would say that). After the first set of each round half the players will be spectating, if Bungie can reduce the amount of bandwidth these players are using from the host it should improve the player’s experience. Being full green bar as a spectator seems a little pointless if you are making the quality of the game worse for the remaining players. COD does this during for Search & Destroy.

I have seen those maps that have challenging jumps and towers to climb. So you could even put forward the idea of having a race to see who can climb the towers first and get to an objective that wins the round or something with limited lives.

For any playlist you would have to consider the population that would be in interested in playing it. If there aren’t enough people interested then the few that are will have long search times. How long the games will last. If the games last to long then people are likely to get bored and leave. Even with a big population playing the game you could have search issue’s if the matches lasted to long. There would be times when no one was searching then half an hour later when thousands of matches finished and those players were all searching at once.

I’m pretty sure I have totally lost the point here and no one will read my big post. So I will just post this and what will be will be I guess. Sorry I kind of just rambled on about nothing.

octagon in reach sucks, not sure if it's on host or off, but when you spawn, your dmr is at full bloom, and it's almost impossible to get out of spawn trap.

Octagon just does not feel the same in Reach. The fact that you have to spam or pace your shots defeats the purpose of a closed in environment with out obstacles. Plus you can't even strafe well in Reach.

It is just another add on why I do not like Reach. So no... Hell no ;)

Yea I think that there should be some sort of 1v1 or FFA playlist in. I can't stand playing MM by myself because I always play a t04. I would much rather do a 1v1 or FFA when I have no one online to play with.

Since we are on the topic of Octagons. My friend made a really good Octagon that is aesthetically appealing and has a nice feel to it.

But i remember halo 2 had a 1v1 playlist and it was really good for warm-ups there should be a warm up playlist. FFA would work also.

The only problem would be the horrible camping that would be involved. But I think an Octagon playlist might actually be alright. Not a bad idea at all!

idk why everyone is bringing up a ffa playlist or 1v1 playlist. That has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. If the topic was what playlists should be added to reach then yeah but that isn't what this is

I personally think Octagon should stay in customs just because there is no "true skill" anymore (or that's what people say). I don't want to get matched up with someone who has a horrible shot, that wouldn't be beneficial to me at all.
