It did cost them. Because they got 3-0'd, they ended up getting second, got put all the way down in LBR6 and lost to a great Warriors team. It's not an excuse, it's a fact.

They have been my favorite team since i got into MLG at the beginning of 09. You dont know how happy i am to see flamesword and ace get a win together and enable and assault deserve it too. great group of guys sQ is. Luckily Ace was smart enough to join back up with them in the offseason of 09-10 because he left because he wanted gilkey over assault. Also with enable joining carbon for 2 hours in 2010 season, but they are smart enough to know to go right back to the lineup. Good Job sQ you guys deserve it!!!

Congrats to SQ, they deserve it.

My thoughts on some of the teams this event:
-FB didn't show up this event, but they will stick together and become a top tier team this season.
-Warriors proving me wrong, I didn't expect them to place so well, SS played insane and Snak3 Bite was impressive.
-Dynasty was also a shocker team, they didn't LAN once and still placed well. Snip3down is still Snip3down.
-Soul did very well this event and Brake just can't stop getting 5th place. Brake has proven to be a player that can hang with the best of them.
- I knew that Instinct would place somewhere either 6th or 7th place, just because I feel like Roy and Lunch have way too much weight on their shoulders with Totz and T2 on the team. I did see some good plays from T2 here in there and I believe he can improve a lot from this event but Totz needs to go. I watched Instinct closely this event and I've noticed that Totz always makes very questionable plays, along with going negative every game he plays. Instinct needs a playmaker on the team like Heinz or Ninja, both these players have a lot of individual talent and can do objective when they need too.
-Impact was the most suprising team this event imo, Neighbor has a great home on Impact and is playing at the top of his game. Lethul is a future MVP player.
-DH was the biggest disappointment this event, that's all I can say about them.

DH gets there shit together
Impact works on there teamwork
Warriors practices hard
Dynasty practices hard and doesn't drop Ghost or Instinct makes team changes any of them could win

i think this attitude is strange about the competitive console community...

if you look at pro PC gaming teams, they RARELY change up their rosters. they especially don't change up their roster just because they finished 6th place. placing top 10 in a new competitive game at your first event isn't something to look at as a failure. it may individually be a lower placement for some of these players who have been at higher peaks throughout their careers, but if they take a step back, stick together, and work on the issues they have together as a team they can possibly win a tournament and place first next time around. i don't get why the answer is always cutting someone and picking up new players just because the team didn't get 1st place.

look at Quo, they've stuck together for a long time now and it's bringing results. look at the original StK/FInal Boss... they were the most dominant team ever and they were the only team who kept a consistent roster from event to event.

MLG: The recent trend for the top teams has been to shuffle rosters around looking for the perfect combination, and usually breaking up after just one or two Events. What is it about you four that has allowed this team to stay together for so long?

Flamesword: We're great friends outside of the game and we can all take criticism… except for Ace.

Enable: We are the perfect combination [laughs]. Honestly, we realize that we can only get better individually over time and our teamwork will continue to improve. It seems like teams are trying to combine the best individual players, but teamwork is always more important than individual skill.

Assault: Being the last member to join this team, I knew there was something special about these guys. Not being known as the best player and to have these guys stay faithful towards me is what made everything work.

Flamesword: We almost had a roster change when one of our red-haired teammates wanted to go to Carbon back in the day. Thankfully he came to his senses, and a year later we win.

Enable: You're gonna call me out like that? Free agent.

Flamesword: [Laughs]

Enable: Gottem.

Ace: After the first Event, we were together in Orlando 2010, I felt I had more fun with this group than any other team I had ever been on. We knew we had the potential to break the Top 3, but every time it was right there, we choked. So we just stuck it out and improved more and more.

Enable: LFGQ.

MLG: So do you think the other top teams would be better off sticking it out a little longer?

Flamesword: Probably, but they just have to have the right mindset.

Ace: It depends whether they think they have the right mix of guys. However, it is pretty unlikely for a team to get worse as time goes on, so yes.

Assault: It all depends—players either get dropped because they aren't performing well enough or there's a clash between personalities. Players can only get better, but personalities don't change… unless you're Enable [laughs].

Enable: Sticking together will only cause your team to get better, period… unless you suck.
