It says currently encoding bit rate 6.0 MB. Is that good?

For the HD PVR, the best would be 13.5 MB/s but I record at around 6 MB/s because with my upload bandwidth it would take more time than desired to upload to youtube. I think If you have a decent connection and want to upload raw gameplay, 6-9 MB/s would be good depending on the video length. Some people record at the highest bit rate for editing and then they render at a lower bit rate that wont kill quality.

Thanks for the explaination my brotha lol I'm new to all this so all the advice helps. You recommend any certain video editing software I can put together some montages and such with that is windows vista compatible and isn't a zillion dollars! lol

hmmm, I dont know lol. I use Sony Vegas. I know Vista has movie maker pre installed but you might want to download Windows Live Movie Maker. I think its a little different and lighter with a Direct upload to youtube option. I never made huge edits with it, just quick snips here and there (loading screens before/post game, Music). And the youtube uploader on it is great, it compresses the video as much as it can without any sort of quality loss.

Its like $500 :/. Its awesome though. If you know video editing basics you'll be fine. And when you want to get fancy, youtube is amazing, I learned so many tips/tricks from there and use sony vegas tutorials from youtube as reference all the time.

I've never heard of a good free alternative to vegas, Like what gimp is to photoshop. There has to be something out there though.
