Hey guys I recently got a capture card and am going to try my hand at montage editing and all that good stuff. I'm pretty good at figuring out computer programs and software but I just wanted to see if any of you editors out there could recommend a good video editing software for the PC that is pretty easy to use and realitively inexpensive.

I have Sony Vegas Pro on campus computers I can use to intros and stuff but I don't feel like having to spend all the hours on campus to edit a good montage lol

I am not the first to bring this up, and I am not going to be the last. As a video editor myself, you have two main options for editing software and they are both mainstream. These are the options if you want to get stuff done with the incredible user-friendly easy-to-learn interface. Either Sony Vegas PRO or Final Cut PRO. There is not much other software out there that competes with these two. And if you are going to be making montages, this IS the way to go.

I have used both and I continue to use Vegas today. I have 9 Pro. I used Final Cut in the CS4 series (back when there was no CS5) and it is hard to handle if you have gotten use to Vegas in the littlest bit. I don't know who said it in your other thread, but watching videos on youtube is the biggest help for anyone. I can personally suggest some if you want. But if you want to achieve, you will have to invest time in watching/applying/experimenting with techniques you see. You will also have to invest some serious coin.

Both of the programs I mentioned though are only editors. If you really get into effects and those things you see in big-time montages, that you will need a special effects program. My recommendation along with many others is Adobe After Effects. The duo of Sony Vegas and After Effects is incredible and can't be beat that I know of. Now I'm not certain how much After Effects will cost, but it will pinch your wallet.

There is also "the other way". I'm not going to lie. Like 90% of Sony Vegas users get the program through pirated the software. The CS series and After Effects are the same way. It's very hard to hide. If you want any details at all, send me a PM and I will be glad to help.

And for the record, I know nothing about pirating software and cannot help you.

Sony Vegas 9 or the latest edition is pretty good. Also the Video Editing Software is really good on one of the latest MAC Book Pro's
