View Full Version : MLG Event Tweeters

I sent Sundance a email about this idea. I want the community honest feedback.

This weekend has undoubtedly been stressful; I know Sundace and the event staff have been doing an amazing job trying to get everything straightened out, even calling outer sources to come help. While moderating the forums, I have noticed that they are the busiest since Ive been a member of the MLG community.

During the weekend, the moderating staff has noticed an increase in threads about receiving little to no updates about the matches being played. We and others have come up with the idea of MLG Event Tweeters. Special staff will keep up to date in each of the 3 MLG games, posting scores, stats, and other info throughout the day. I was thinking 1-2 people for each game would be plenty to constantly keep people up to date.

As you know over the latest few years the internet has been changing. Front page updates where fine, then the live blog, then facebook. Now we live in the age of Twitter (you are even a huge part of it). I was thinking of a similar system to what the Xbox Support team does.

There link can be found here: http://twitter.com/#!/XboxSupport

As you can see they keep Microsoft Xbox 360 gamers with updates and responding to questions they may have. I and others believe a similar system with score and series updates would be very beneficial for fan and MLG. I feel this idea would really make the community happy since the online spectator only has one stream to watch for each game with some updates from blogs on those games.

I will be going to Columbus regardless if this idea does go through and I am willing to volunteer my Columbus weekend to beta test this idea for Halo Reach.

Opinions? Would you use it? etc.

Very good idea. Also, your presentation of it was very well typed. Bravo! I know about the whole MLG_Scoreboard thing but that is not official, and does not cover every match. An official twitter for this would be totally awesome.

I'm talking to Scoreboard of somewhat of a merger per say (sp). They do mainstage/blog and we do all around the venue.

Thanks for the feedback guys, this is all for you guys!

You could also have the Twitter feed posted somewhere on the main page of the live event (perhaps under the octoshape player), that way people watching the stream don't ever have to look away ;).

This idea sounds great. As much as I love MLG, it'd be much easier to just watch the Mainstage games on Sundays and get up to date stats on my phone for the rest. You got my vote

Really, really good idea. That would also help MLG become a trending topic when around event time, right?

/not completely sure how Twitter works
