I will rant here. I just saw on YouTube that my favorite all time wrestler, Edge, has retired on Raw due to neck injuries throughout his career. Although I don't follow anymore, I followed for as long as I did because of him. Many of you may say wrestling is stupid, but many people say video games is also. It is a hobby, a passion, a sport. Anytime someone needs to stop doing what they love not by their own choice is always a bitter day. I can honestly say I will miss seeing him on TV from time to time, but glad I still own my Edge DVD set. He was truely a competitor, and a great wrestler. 4-time WWE Champ, 5-time World Heavyweight Champ, 5-time Intercontinental Champ, 1-time United States Champ, 11-time World Tag Team Champ, 1-time WWE Tag Champ and the 2001 King of the Ring. Now to mention his 2-time Money in the Bank winner. He has done it all from Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches to an almost explicit segment on Raw with Lita with a bed in the middle of the ring. Was loved and hated by the WWE Universe, but goes out as a respected individual who everyone will miss. He was truly a great person to watch and get entertainment from. To the Rated R Superstar, the one who Wreaks of Awesomeness, thanks for everything you've given to the WWE Universe and it's fans!!!! You will be missed by many!! Glad you were able to go out with your last match defending the World Title at Wrestlemania!!!

Yeah, when he announced it on Raw last night, I felt so bad for him. Crazy turn of events.

Is this a legit retirement or one of those fake ones where they go away for a year or so to do other projects then come back??

He did have major neck surgeries in his career so I would think this would be real. Plus he just defended the World Title at Wrestlemania, would they really tell one of their biggest superstars to take a long break? He has been wrestling for 19 years, that will take a toll on your body when you have put yourself in matches like he did. I don't think any other wrestler can honestly say they put their body through more than him. You know between WWF, WWE and WCW. ECW was just insane lol.

I don't really follow wrestling anymore. I had no idea he was even the champ right now. I'd say its true too then. No way they would have their champ take a break. Sucks that he is leaving. I remember the days when him and Christian were a team. That Con-chair-to was vicious.

there is a good chance he just needed some time off to recharge, like Jericho did a while back, and like HBK before him. if he really is done then it is a sad day for wrestling. ive been watching wrestling for as long as i can remember and edge was for sure way up on my list of favorites. earliest memory of wrestling for me was wrestle mania 9, so that just tells you how long ive been a fan of wrestling. haha.

I would hope he comes back, but with the injuries and his age I don't see that happening. Again he started at 23 and has been in it for 19 years. And his body has been through a lot with all those TLC and Ladder matches. Surprised he was able to be around for as long as he was.

He isnt coming back he is legitly done. But yeah when he came out on RAW last night I had a feeling he was making a retirment speech. Its weird about a month or so back when they where in Toranto, he has said that it "may have been the last time I wrestle here" Edge is a sick wrestler and will always be remembered for being in thre Brood all the way to being the Rated "R" Superstar. Gonna miss seeing you wrestle Edge !

Too bad he couldn't retire in Toronto, would've been very special for him. Or to wrestle Christian in his last match since that how he started his career in the WWF. If you have his DVD set that match is an extra feature. Not to mention the 5 mintues of AWESOMENESS!!! hahaha never laughed so hard in my life

AT first thought it was a joke, expecting Del rio to come out--> but it then tunned really serious. Now we know why he won WM27 and why there was not Christian vs. Edge. Sucks to see him go. SD will go crazy for him

its really hard to tell what is and isn't legit in wrestling, something that seems for real ends up evolving into some sort of story arc. I've seen it happen with Sean Michaels in the past, i wouldn't be surprised if this was something of the same sort. anyways though, Edge was pretty awesome in wrestling so it's sad to see him go especially if it's health related. even though it's fake... those men put themselves through a lot of physical danger so it isn't too surprising. what surprises me more is that a lot of the older generation of wrestling is STILL there. wrestle-mania was such a disappointment though...

I am pretty sure he retired for good. I hope that he does make some sort of return like Stone Cold and Hulk Hogan made.

I honestly never liked Edge and he was one of the reasons I stopped watching wrestling. It's sad to see him leave the way he did, but I just couldn't get a liking for him.

Damn I didnt know there were alot of wrestling fans on these forums haha. Im still a pretty big WWE fan after not watching for about 2 years back in 07-08. Started watching again and im hooked, sucks to see Edge stop wrestling and its gonna be hard for WWE to find another solid main eventer, not alot of good ones right now imo.
