It's a desktop computer I stuffed into a Xbox 360 case. It has a 2.8GHz single core processor that can be unlocked to a dual core, 2GB of ram, 270watt power supply, and a 20GB hard drive with Ubuntu 10 installed on it (of course if I sell this the buyer would need to purchase an external hard drive because there's only 13GBs left of space on the 20GB hard drive. I had a ton of fun doing this mod so let me know what you guys think :)

Wow! I love it! That would be insane to have! I wonder how much it is gonna cost to buy...

Just gonna go ahead and say it. The idea sounds good but also really bad. There is a reason desktops are a certain size, this being that they actually need to room. You use the word "stuffed" which I assume you literally mean as I'm guessing you have all the wiring, boards, and everything else jam packed into the xbox? If so it's very likely to overheat, short circuit, and malfunction in several different ways.

Good idea though.

Just saying, also that "green cord" I do believe is a PS2 connection

He is right.

I'm going to be straightforward. This is cool as shit. But, at the same time, it's insanely dumb.

He didn't do it to build an awesome gaming computer or anything. It was a project he just wanted to do for fun. So it's not dumb or stupid. I also build computers and I think it was a cool project. Keep up the good work Monk3y!

You obviously don't understand what we mean. If you build computers than you should know that the casing is as big as it it for a reason.

Seen a couple of these around, one guy from the UK kept the xbox exactly the same as before aside from a fan on the right side.
He used a laptop disk drive in place of the normal desktop drive to save space.

I've wanted to see someone create a Xbox/PC combination, high spec gaming pc with the functionality of the xbox as well.

Ok I appreciate all the comments and I understand where a couple of you are coming from when you say overheating and shorting out can be issues but you better believe I thought about that while putting it al together. When I get home from school I will post some pictures to prove that neither of those issues you announce are or should be a problem in the future. Benjak is right though, this project was just something fun I did with my free time and as a hobby project. I respect your straight forward cons you see and will try my best to show you that they should not be a problem. Nothing is certain though.

I wasn't trying to bash it man. I think it's an awesome idea and with certain tweeks could be made to work. I'll check in when you show these pictures though.

His mod will be fine. Its no bigger than a micro case and no smaller than a nettop and people fit components into those just fine.

Now a chance for me to reply to everyone since I'm finally home:

Looks amazing!
Thank you, and also thanks for being the first to comment on it ;)

Wow! I love it! That would be insane to have! I wonder how much it is gonna cost to buy...
I'll most likely be putting it on ebay this weekend with a starting bid of $250 because it cost me around $280 or so to actually build the thing and plus I have quite a bit of time into actually doing the mod. If you're interested you can always PM me.

This is cool! Kind of like a nettop. I'm diggin the paint too dude.
I have no idea what a nettop is but thanks. The paint is a dark metallic blue and gloss black like I explained the the video. Thanks for the compliment :D

This looks sick!!
Thank you man.

You hit the nail on the head, it was something to do for fun but I also did put some thought into it too and I'll explain to them the details.

Looks awesome, good job
Thanks dude.

I did youtube some and saw what you meant. If I would have had a little more to spend I would have got a laptop optical drive and installed it but already had around $280 invested in it :P But as for the high spec gaming PC in a 360 case would be really hard because there's no space to really fit the massive graphics cards :P

You're right, xbox cases are right around the same size as a micro case if not maybe a little bigger than some even.

Ok now to reply to you two. BTW before I start I know you weren't being rude about your comments and I appreciate your feedback on what might be wrong with my idea, but now I'm gonna try and explain to you how it should be fine how it is. (a 2nd revision one if I ever made it would be even better constructed but no money for that right now :P)

Alright, first off, I'll address the shorting out problems you said may occur. To start here is a picture of the internal components of the PC after some minor cable management:
http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/465.jpg
As you can see none of the cables really sit over any important components on the motherboard. They're all mostly in the excess area I planned to be there for cabling :P

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/410.jpg
In this picture you can see that the motherboard itself is actually elevated over the metal bracket that it's mounted to. So nothing on the underside of the motherboard is even close to touching the metal casing.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/482.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/485.jpg
In these two pictures you can see the vent hole on the side of the case right over the cpu fan so the cpu itself should never have over-heating problems. Along with having the cpu vent hole and fan pushing air out of the case there are also 2 50mm fans installed in the front faceplate as intake fans. For being 50mm fans those things pump tons of air, haha, down fall is that they're pretty loud :( Now along with fans and such you still have the pre-drilled vent holes that come stock with any 360 case. In the second picture you can see that the case is slightly more elevated off the surface it sits on by some thumb screws I had left over from my regular computer case.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/474.jpghttp://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee200/M0NK3Y-MAN911/Console%20mods/471.jpg
Lastly is a picture of the temperature gauge I installed. The computers on average runs at 30 degrees Celsius which is somewhere around 80 degrees Fahrenheit I think. The sensor I installed is right beside the CPU under the heatsink so it's located in the hottest place the pc will get at. The 2nd picture is just a view from the back that I felt like adding in as well. So hopefully this helps my ideas on this computer to be a little more "legit" in a way :P

Replacing the internal hard drive isn't actually that hard to do. It's as simple as removing 4 screws using a T6 torx screwdriver and then unplugging the 2 cords to the hard drive and sliding the hard drive out and sliding a new one in and doing the opposite of what I said to remove it haha. But buying or using an external hard drive would be the easiest thing to do and smartest even. That way if you want to go to a buddies house or school you'll always have your files with you and when you go home you can just plug it back into the PC.

That is so sick. I was going off the assumption it was cramped and crowed, due to the fact that you said stuffed. When people say stuff, I usually think of a bunch of something cramped up in a little something.

I think it was a sick idea, but like I said, the assumption I had from what you said, made it seem really dumb.

Good work though. I love you. And I want you to have my children.

Edit: This could make gaming desktop PCs more portable. God. You're a genius.

I uhhhh...don't really know how to respond to that....thank you? lol I uhhh....love you too? :D

But yea in my original idea I planned on adding a nice handle to the top of the hard drive so you could easily carry it places. Of course I would have had to reinforce the hard drive to stay in because leaving it out it is by being held in by a couple tabs seems a bit sketchy IMO. lol
