Boss Nasti arguing that live and lan are the same.
NO ARGUING AMONGST TLN'rs!!! we are not having this thread get locked too. So instead of saying Boss Nasti is a dumbass or Boss Nasti is my hero everyone write about what they think about the debate topic.
Is online practice significantly different from lan practice. Boss Nasti is saying that there is a minimal difference b/w the two so that practicing online is just the same as practicing online.

This whole Boss Nasti thing has gotten out of hand. I hate him just as much as the rest of you and sure the Suddoth's trolling on him was pretty funny. Why is it that we can't just ignore him from now on? This attention everyone gives him is exactly what he wants.

At the beginning he asked for prove that LAN is different to live.
Almost all major competitive tournaments are played LAN, the only reason some aren't is because they don't support LAN.
Maybe I am to rationalise Boss Nasti's mind frame, but i refuse to believe he is that stupid. I think it's just because he likes attention and the more insanely stupid comments he makes the more attention he will get. I don't think he cares if the attention is good or bad as long as he gets it.
He is quite obviously a egomaniac and comes of self-righteous. So even by supporting a video that makes him look stupid, he is getting the lime light that he doesn't deserve and I'm worried for mankind's safety, as undoubtable his ego will swell and it will pop at some point.
So as many people in this community are already trying to forget about him, this should be an added incentive.

To be fair he did say the only difference between live and LAN is shot registration. If you guys would listen to what he was saying, the point was that your time is spent more efficiently on live if your only intention is to "practice." I talked to him about the video and he told me he was annoyed that teams would even consider going to an official MLG tournament and not take it seriously. In my opinion I think the suddoths would have made a better case if they said they wanted to go to Columbus to build team chemistry, not because they just want to have fun and get some LAN play. Local LANs should be used or that reason.

I agree...
i honestly think he is making a few good points and people are just foaming at the mouth because its Boss Nasti
a lot of halo players always make excuses about gameplay online, just by simply saying that its online and doesn't really matter. sure that's probably somewhat true because xbox live is ridiculous... the registry is completely different from LAN, the bloom takes longer to reset, and whoever has host has a huge advantage... this could easily be fixed if Bungie or Microsoft would just offer dedicated servers to Halo players or to Xbox Live but they refuse to do that...
BUT
teamwork is still significantly important even if you are playing online. teamwork in halo will win you games over another team who has poor teamwork, whether its lagging or not. his points about cleaning up kills and shit regardless of whether or not its lagging is something i can agree with, and your teamwork and discipline online isn't going to change very drastically from online to lan. the major differences are registry, and the fact that you are actually physically sitting next to your team mates so communication will be improved but beyond that online and lan are very similar.
i'm not defending boss nasti, i'm just saying it isn't like he is talking out of his ass he is making a valid argument.
the only thing that i really find annoying about the guy is that he has this egotistical attitude where it seems almost like he feels that he is bringing a lot to the table in terms of what he can offer a team with his coaching ability... and its almost as if he feels like he is more important to the team than the actual players. like, if the team were to just follow his every command and do what he says that they would be #1... but my question is, how many teams has he coached that were actually successful? has he had any teams place top 16? top 10? does he have any wins under his belt as a coach? if the answer is no to all of those questions than I can't understand why he is so cocky and arroghant, it is just more of the mlg kid attitude of unjustified feelings of self importance for absolutely no reason at all. ive been playing and competing in Halo since CE, and i've accomplished nothing... even though I've played and competed against players who have gone pro or still are pro you don't see me going around acting like i'm the shit. you should be humble, professional and a sportsman in competition even when you are someone who has achieved a lot. look at ogre 2, you never see someone like him being a cocky douchebag.

One could argue bossnasti isn't an idiot based on the fact that he did not lower his expectations of having a serious and mature team to coach. I see you and him go back and forth online and I know he could present himself in a better light over the Internet but knowing him personally I can tell you that he's not a complete idiot, only sometimes.

BOSS NASTi is completely clueless about himself, life, girls, and Halo.

Anyone with a strong foundation in the English language can tell boss is not well educated.
If it isn't obvious from watching his commentaries, this guy doesn't know much about Halo other than very basic strategy.
I'm sorry you have had the misfortunate of meeting him. He really seems like a bad guy.

Let's just set aside the issue of his intelligence. It is his arrogance, disrespect of other's opinions and poor debate skills that make him come off as such a douche. He could be brilliant but nobody would ever know because people close their ears to narcissists like this.
He follows this method to 'win' any argument:
1) make an assertion
2) bully opponents any any way to keep them from making a point (putting words in their mouths, distorting their points, talking over them, being passive aggressive, ignoring any point he does not like)
3) demanding levels of verification on dissenting views he does not require of his own
4) dictating the entire process of debate such that he is advocate and judge all in one
Beware halo lovers. People like this never change and never listen to others because they love themselves so much.
Symptoms of Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Narcissism is a term commonly used to describe those who seemed more concerned with themselves than with others. It is important to distinguish between those who have narcissistic personality traits and those suffering from narcissistic personality disorder. Those with narcissistic personalities are often seen as arrogant, confident, and self-centered, but they do not have the exaggerated or grandiose view of their own abilities that characterizes narcissistic personality disorder.
The DSM-IV identifies the following symptoms:
* An exaggerated sense of one's own abilities and achievements.
* A constant need for attention, affirmation and praise.
* A belief that he or she is unique or "special" and should only associate with other people of the same status.
* Persistent fantasies about attaining success and power.
* Exploiting other people for personal gain.
* A sense of entitlement and expectation of special treatment.
* A preoccupation with power or success.
* Feeling envious of others, or believing that others are envious of him or her.
* A lack of empathy for others.
I know I'm just feeding the troll here, narcissists being the biggest trolls of all. Forgive me please.

Interesting that a couple of people are actually listening to what Nasti's saying and noting that it's not actually complete garbage; he does make some valid points but they're very well camouflaged by the fact that he's being a bit of a gobshite.
For example, any competitive game has 3 primary elements: Objective, strategy and tactics. The object is usually (although not always) to win the game. The strategy is the overall plan that a team will follow in order to achieve the agreed objective. For example, a valid strategy might be "to control the power weapons and spawn trap the other team whenever possible". Tactics are the specifics of how each player reacts in a given situation and contributes to the overall strategy. In this sense, Nasti's kinda right.
Having said that, much of the argument seems to be based on a simple (possibly willful) misunderstanding of terminology. What most players call "strats" are really tactics if you're being pendantic but honestly, who cares?
Funny but pointless.

My .02 on this...
I really do admire his dedication to gaming. His YouTube site is very professional looking and he puts in a ton of time and effort. And he makes a lot of good general points. I really don't have a problem with his approach to the game of Halo itself, I haven't viewed his other gametype videos. I feel like I can pick out something from his videos here and there and use it in my game.
Heres my biggest problem with him....
As professional as his site looks, and how much he talks about having a professional attitude about the game, he contradicts that with horrible language, name calling, and insulting description of play he deems unworthy. Boss, you want to be taken seriously as a pro coach? Then stop calling people "my nigga" during a "professional gameplay review". It undermines any creditability you may have. Once you stoop to using slurs like "nigga", "faggot", etc., you come across as a immature bigot, not a "Pro Coach". The message still might be the same, but the delivery of the message couldn't be more unprofessional.
As far as LAN vs. Live is concerned - I've never actually played on LAN. I'm putting together a LAN at my house though so that will change soon. Basic gameplay and teamwork I wouldn't see as being effected, so there Boss is right I think.
