Okay so I want to get the, Black Magic Intensity Shuttle, but I will also need to get a new computer for mine is like a '08 and 3.0 usbs didn't come out till late '09 early '10. So my question is, what is a good laptop to get. I really want to get one from Dell but it doesnt say if there 3.0 or not. I would say I would get a desk top, but I dont really want a desktop for when I'm at home I like to play xbox and use my computer at the same time. So if anyone can help me build a laptop under $700 with Dell that will work with the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle, that would be sick. Thanks!

I honestly wouldn't recommend any Dell computer under $700 for any purpose other then school work such as writing papers.
Personally the only laptop I would recommend is an Asus or a high end Alienware
Also why not get a desktop? Most people use their desktops and their Xbox at the same time.

I somewhat agree with Antidote, if i was going to spend that much i would try and spend just a couple hundred more for a new alienware. HOWEVER, if you really want a dell then i looked up what the cheapest one with usb 3.0 is....here you go
http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-l502x/pd.aspx?~ck=mn
it's still 100 more than you want to spend but i believe thats the most inexpensive. I also use an xps for work and I like it alot. hasn't given me any problems.

I recommend not getting the Shuttle. It's bad and can break easily. It's horrible actually get a BM Intensity. Justin.tv/MikeyBitanga - I stream there

First make sure you have a good upload speed. 1mb and higher should be good.. but over 3mb would be perfect.

My upload is great, I have Verizon plus package, I get anywhere from 35-45 DL and 3-10 upload. I have never seen it lower then 4 actually. Also I would get a alienware, i just figured that was over kill for streaming, facebooking, and amateur editing.
And it doesn't have to be Dell, I just thought it would be a okay brand to get, but if not then hell send me laptops of any sort with 3.0 usb. And I need the portable cause I don't want a desktop. I need something I can bring to events so im not bored on the plane rides and crap.
Also I will change the set price to 1,200.. can I get better results? :P

Anything having to deal with rendering / editing / recording / streaming is pretty high end performance tasks. I've heard macs are also good for this although I have never tried nor used one. But personally, I have a dell laptop and probably won't be getting a dell again. The reason being, you can not change or swap parts in dell laptops.
Anyways, I think Eclipse has a post (http://thelannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?2409-Comp-Builder) made concerning building computers, message him. You are not exactly building a computer, but none the less the knowledge is there. He could probably give you a straight up answer immediately. Hope this helps ^.^ message me if you need more help. If nothing else, I could do a bit of research and give you a legit answer.

I love these threads...
1) You will not find a laptop under $700 that can handle a BMShuttle. This is the best deal I found. http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-N82JQ-X1-14-Inch-Laptop-Brown/dp/B003TO55D6 Edit: If you use this laptop, you will need to overclock or it will most likely crash during streaming.
2) What Mikey said about the Shuttle is somewhat true. I would like to point out that if you get anything from Black Magic Design, you ensure you have EXACTLY the hardware that they require. If you have anything different, whether it's better or worse, it won't work. Don't get a better motherboard than they suggest, get ONLY what they suggest.
3) Prepare yourself for frustration. Setting up anything from BMD can blow really hard. They have TERRIBLE customer support, so if you don't know computers inside and out, then read up my friend. You will try multiple versions of the Media Express software, several different driver releases, new BIOS settings, firmware updates, etc.
4) Know someone who can help you get your stream together. It can be a real pain doing it on your own, trust me.
You may find that you have no problems at all, and I hope that is the case. I am just giving you fair warning because this is what I dealt with.

@Puroxicity
if you need help message me. I myself is interested in buying a BlackMagic in the near future. I will help research due to the fact that the knowledge will benefit me also.
@forefront
dooon doon dooon! putting the pressure on ♥ haha nah man just kidding! thanks for the warning. Out of my whopping twenty posts on the MLG forums, I asked yesterday about BMIS and if it created input lag / screen lag. Didn't even ask about anything relating to computer performance and this kid replies, "Sorry to say Cinderella, but I doubt you even have a good enough computer to handle the BMIS." <-- lol at MLG forums, thank you forefront. You and everyone else is why I stay on TLN.
Post I am referencing on the MLG forums here (http://forums.majorleaguegaming.com/topic/101011-tvmonitor-buyers-guidefaqdiscussion-ask-every-tv-related-questions-here/page__st__2500__gopid__6763156#entry6763156).

@cinderella_man: the BMI does not add additional response lag to your monitor.
