Love you guys.

So one of my best friends of all times has recently entered this competition for scholarship money. She is seriously one of the nicest girls I know, and she deserves this more than anyone. If you guys would take 30 seconds out of your day and vote for her, I know she would genuinely appreciate it. The scholarship money is given out based on who gets the most votes, so please vote! The leading essay has about 700 votes, while she only has 70. We can do this!

I'm a PhD student and do a fair amount of writing. This is a terrible essay. I'm sorry, even for a high school student, this is just bad. Almost every sentence is a run-on. Not to mention this girl does not need a damn scholarship. Her family is clearly rich and can afford to put her through college. This scholarship should go to someone that actually needs it. Not someone who has already had the opportunity to explore half the world in high school and is simply a bad writer. There are also typos...she didn't even take the time to proofread the first few sentences.

Rude and uncalled for....Her mom is a flight attendant, she can get basically free stand-by flights to anywhere in the world. That is the only reason they/we have traveled so much. When we travel, we literally eat bread and cheese the whole time.

Umm, read is the past tense of read so I don't see the big deal in that. As for typos there is one (battle field is actually battlefield. No big.) and many people would have made it and none of the sentences are run on. Please be nice, this site has seen a lot of turbulence recently due to bad manners and we all want it to stop.
