I though championships are only top 8 teams? I'm confused. Can somebody explain this to me please? Thanks!

2009 nationals were open as well. Guess they are going back to it.

It has been in the past. It looks like MLG is trying another new thing this season. Its kinda good news because its one more event for open bracket teams. I personally think the idea is decent, but I would like an invite only competition like the past. We will have to see.

maybe they are scared of having alot of well known players miss nationals like last year, either that or they want to keep it the same all the way across the board and you know they wont close off starcraft because everyone will probably come out for nats

So does this mean there not doing pool play for the National championships?

They're probably doing this just because last year didn't actually have much halo being played. With only eight teams, the tournament seemed so small and short. I like it =)

They did this in 09 as well.. but not in 2010 due to Reach being out so low turnouts would be happening.

I heard that they do this for the first national championship of a new Halo game. I expect the last national championship for Reach to be only 8 teams again, but since its a new game and its first year, its open.

When you think about it, it IS more fair. The way the point system works, you won't have to miss nationals because of a bad team change as far as points go. That being said, I liked the 8 team thing a lot /:

Don't think so, Team. Not to mention this could well be the first and last year of Reach if it's following keeps falling off, and the H:CE remake is any decent.

I am going to have to disagree with you. Reach is getting bigger in MLG. People are starting to realize that it's an extremely well game on LAN and very competitive.
