Currently I have 48312cR* and am Lt Colonel Grade 3 (which is currently MAX RANK).
I have hit the daily credit limit three days so far since I got REACH at the midnight release!


What are some methods you've found to get them fast?


I do ALL of the Daily Challenges / Weekly Challenges
Commendations give you a large boost - go for them whether they be in Campaign, Multiplayer Matchmaking, and Firefight Matchmaking
Achievements - I believe you get a credit boost as well for doing achievements. I am not sure on this one but I had a TON of credits after running through Solo Heroic Campaign.
Firefight Matchmaking - Most credits per time played if you get it down just right

Gruntpocalypse

No Infinite Ammo but infinite ammunition in spawns
Recommended Class: DMR / Pistol
Easy commendations: Target Practice, Dome Inspector, Numbers Game, Longshot, Trigger Happy (Pistol)


Sniper Attack

Infinite ammo
Sniper Rifle and drop pistol for Needle Rifle (jackals - 2nd wave / skirmishers - 4th wave) or Fuel Rod Gun (grunts - 1st wave)
You can easily get the Dome Inspector, Numbers Game, Get Loud, and Longshot Commendations in this gametype





Are you saving up for anything?


Special Chest Piece - 75K Credits
MJOLNIR Mk V (Halo:CE Helmet) - 130K Credits
Grenadier (Knee Guards) - 45K Credits
Armor that require higher ranks (currently unknown how to achieve those ranks)

If you have any other questions about this I will gladly answer them. And yes I play Firefight a lot because I actually LOVE it. It is a huge positive it gives me credits tho.

This is going to be OT, but what happens once you reach Lt. Colonel Grade 3? Does the bar just stop moving, or what?

Sucks that you got highest rank so quickly. Maybe they should've made it SUPER long and made it go all the way up to 5 Star General. They'll probably update with new ranks, though.

The bar stops moving and instead of where it has your next rank is says "MAX RANK" I know this is not the highest rank because there are armor items that I cannot buy yet. There is just not any way to tell (currently) how to rank up past Lt. Colonel Grade 3. :(

I was thinking of doing something like this, but my OCD coupled with the fact that I'd spend all my cR on one thing made me decide not to go through with it. I think once I get to Heur's stage my goal will just be to get cR to save up for something cool like that until they come in with an update to make the max rank higher.

On topic: I'm kinda disappointed that I didn't reach the credit limit again today. But hopefully I'll be able to earn a bunch more tomorrow so I can unlock those armor items that I want... :)

Same thing here but, what's even better/might be worse is that it's not a death animation. It's just like the flaming head. There's a video on Youtube with it on. Looks pretty sick, clouds on your shoulders and lightning that strikes down to your feet. The pestilence isn't too bad looking either. Gonna take a while to save up though.

I know man, I almost did the same thing, and I was questioning whether or not to save up for it. I thought to myself it's either gonna be a huge disappointment, or the greatest thing ever. And then I saw the vid and now I just want it so bad. Right now I'm at about 250k credits so I have a LONG way to go.

I currently have 200k+ CR - I just finally got my first Gold Commendation in Firefight!
I saving up for Inclement Weather or the other Armour animation. The easiest thing to do is Firefight Score Attack which gives you almost 1,000 CR every game. (while the game last about 8 minutes).

*I can't believe they actually have daily CREDIT MAX. Too bad I don't play that much to find out how much it is for the MAX.

Yes. Just to name a couple: I can see the Commando helmet and Pilot helmet. I don't have my 360 in a playable state right now otherwise I would give you a full list. :) I may come back in here and put the full list once I get the chance. I really wanna be able to play today! Argh! lol

Not what I meant. I mean, he maxed out credits every day for like two weeks I think. There is a difference between absolutely feinding the game and taking it fast.

If he just found it so fun that he just had to play it that much, on the other hand, then that's cool. It comes off to me that if you're playing that much you're trying to reach a goal, not have a lot of fun.

Maybe I just don't game as hard as some of you. ;)

i absolutely love the game. i don't care all that much that i can't rank up more yet because i have such a blast playing it. plus i have tons of credits which i spent buying a bunch of armor and i'm just gonna keep spending it as i go.

So did anyone get reset ? (bungie said they reset 15,000 ppl for challenge resetting) i did the oni exploit and some scoreattack but never reset and i still have my rank :)

wow 15k. 3 of my friends got reset and they boosted hard, reset and 2 weeks of no gaining cR.

I did it once and only gained 20k and no ranks, which is which I never got reset. All never hit the daily cap. which I 50k cR

Bungie said in a recent update that they won't ban people for exploiting flaws in campaign like the ONI glitch, because you're sitting there for a mind numbing amount of hours clicking the same buttons, effectively "earning" your cR. If you write a program to do it over and over again FOR you, that is when you will be banned.

Just got captain rank yesterday. I now have more time to game so I'll be putting more time in.

When I found out Bungie was banning people for CR cheating, I quickly spent over 200,000 CR (I was doing the ONI glitch in Campaign) so I would at least have some armor. However: They're not banning for that reason, so I'm going to start saving up again, i'm around 200k.

**It just seems boring, the easiest way to get CR (more than 90% of all the Lt. Colonels out there played DAYS of Firefight) and get ONYX in around 3-5 different commandations. I can't force myself to play more than 4-5 games a day (of score attack). It's pretty pathetic, all you do is shoot grunts for hours?**

It's like Bungie just gave that out there for these scrubs to play, so they can achieve that rank before anyone else (unlike Halo 3 where half of them couldn't even get a 50).

I only play it because I absolutely hate MM and because I try and get as much CR as I can within the 2 hours I'm on it during the day.

I never realized Firefight Matchmaking was so easy to get cR in. Going to add it to my stuff to do online. Which now stands at Campaign on Legendary (By myself), Team Slayer (By myself) and Team SWAT (By myself)

ProTip! If you are a Lt Colonel grade 3, just so you know Bungie announced that every credit you earn will go towards your next rank(s) so you are not just saving up for stuff, you are also gaining rank behind the scenes of the level cap.

ProTip2! To find out where you currently stand even though you are at max rank, dashboard out.. pull your plug (disconnect to XBL) start Reach back up and it will show your true rank, since there is no level cap for offline.

They boost by going into matchmaking with a full party, pick an objective game, then get tons of kills off each other it gets you a crapload of credits within a couple hours.

Heck I even go in by myself, vote for Oddball type games, and just get ~50 kills by feeding off kids running towards it. Lots and lots of cR! I added Grifball to this list but only with a team. The reason I did this is because you WILL get the worst people you have ever met if you search by yourself and you'll get extremely frustrated. With a team it is amazing especially if you get the spawn trap on GGL Coliseum... Grifball Evolved is more entertaining for me to play but normal Grifball is alright as well. That's about all that is new. Firefight Arcade was the best while it lasted, and I'm not a fan of Firefight Limited. Gametype / Map Combinations are not to my liking... :p

It really is up to you what you wanna play! Currently the most lucrative cR farming is Firefight (at least for me) because of the huge game completes that you get from it. If anyone has any other questions about this please let me know!

You're talking Firefight with other players right? Not Score Attack? I did that a bit at first and I don't remember getting that many cR. I guess they've increased it. BTW I'm close to 1.4 Mill now and will finally reach Brigadier today.

By yourself I have both Firefight and Score Attack. Score Attack is extremely good because if you pay attention to how long it takes you to finish the game (I can finish Courtyard / Corvette Gruntpocalypse in ~5 minutes) you will see that it is one of the highest cR / min games you can play. ;)

It all depends on what you do in the game and your rank! Game Completion cR increases with every rank and the more multikills / sprees you get give you more commendation cR as well! It really is up to you how much you earn ;)

I average around 1200 per Grunt game. I believe that is a well shared average for just about everyone as well. Then again, heuer IS a legend ;)

Nice Krillin! :) And yes, if I felt like it and had nothing else to do (no job, no school) I would be right up there with him, boosting every single day until I hit the limit. Oh and in the beginning, he was one of the ones that did the illegal challenge boosting but stopped before they started enforcing it ;)
