New Call of Duty!?

"Everyone's waiting to see what Activision unveils for the new Call of Duty game that's coming out this year. One important segment of that is the online component – and the myriad things that entails. Activision has formed a specific studio called Beachhead to deal with "digital services" for the upcoming title and the franchise as a whole. Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey thinks he knows what Beachhead is going to bring to the table.

Earlier this week, a supposed logo for something called Call of Duty Elite surfaced, and many believe that this is what Beachhead has been working on in conjunction with Modern Warfare 3. Hickey speculates that Beachhead's digital initiative will offer "more extensive" in-game wagering, customization items, online tournaments and leagues, and "community development" – as well as your traditional DLC and other exclusive content.

Of course, the big question is whether all this will amount to having to pay for online play, and from what Activision heads like CEO Bobby Kotick have said previously, it sounds like the company is committed to keeping parts of online free-to-play while also offering options players can choose to pay for. Fellow industry analyst Michael Pachter has said this is what he expects.

like i said in the +1 thread i feel like this is too soon for ANOTHER Call of Duty i feel like they are milking us see a new Halo comes out every 3 years or so allowing everyone to master it get bored of it miss it come back and get bored again. if you talk about 15 prestiges and crap like that then allow people (not people who play CoD for 5 hours a day) to get there. this is not madden we dont need a new one every year. PLUS its gonna PLUS its gonna kill its chances on MLG cuz they will have a new game every year that may or may not be MLG supportive.

I read on se7ensins that some rumors on perks, weeapons and 1 map leaked. Also there is an apparent cover system being introduced. If its true, it should hopefully bring a fresh feel to the series. I personally love the Modern Warfare series. The story is insane and the multiplayer is fast paced.

I personally wouldn't take these rumors too seriously but most of these CoD rumors turn out to be true.

There is going to be a COD game every year like it or not. Activision said that if there is a franchise they can exploit they will. Guitar Hero for example. They exploited the hell out of it, made their money, and now there is no more guitar hero.

I was watching LiveOnThree yesterday, Fwiz and Hastro was on. They commented that they most likely wont switch every time a new COD came out. So expect Black Ops to be on the circuit until Treyarch's next game because they feel they are doing a better job. All this! I do love the modern warfare games to death. I personally think Treyarch's games are slow-paced and the mechanic's are crap. I feel like I'm playing a shittier version of Bad Company when I play their cod games. I personally have no issue with Cod games rewarding players for literally everything. I don't see cod in any way a competative game since cod4. It's been pushed more towards the casual gamer so they can just pick up the controller and feel like they have accomplished something. I do feel they should slow down from an annual release. But of course the masses will eat up anything with "call of duty" in the title these days.

Exactly. The reason many people are deceived into thinking Call of Duty is millions of miles ahead of Halo (it only is in few areas) is because gamers new to shooters like something that is rewarding right away.

There have been two great Call of Duty's - 2 & 4. WAW was an unnecessary step back to WW2, MW2 had so many problems (MLC, Too many buildings on maps = too much camping, baby monitors, Danger close tubing, painkiller to name a few, ridiculously overpowered killstreaks), Black Ops was a step back into the right direction but the way COD is going I don't see 4 ever being eclipsed.

We need better, more balanced maps. Kill Leader boards removed - i'll admit I was someone who ignored the objective and spent games padding my 3+ k/d every game so i'm as guilty as anyone. An emphasis needs to be placed on winning to stop kill whoring, something that Halo does a lot better than CoD. No more stupid killstreaks. With hardline enabled, as soon as I got 10 kills I had a chopper gunner and gunship in the bag, that's a minimum of another 30-40 kills. Oh and a cover system - NO THANKS.

see i love you guys you all agree its annoying to a dagree when you can just get rewarded for stupid crap. i love Brink cuz you get EXP for EVERYTHING providing you DO something hey there is a objective that needs to get done to help your team out want 375 easy EXP go do it! NOT hey buddy lets sit in a corner and shot a nade in this direction OVER AND OVER and ill give you 100-500 EXP every time you do it!

To everyone who replied: The reason why a CoD game comes out every year is because Activision wants to make a profit and Activision gives a good amount of time to DIFFERENT companies or studios to also make the CoD game.

The reason why is a lot of modded websites were correct about many things.
Take Bungie for example: TheTechGame.com was one of the first websites that actually leaked news that Bungie will work for Activision. This happened before Bungie themselves told the news to the Halo community.

And Treyarch is not that very good at making CoD games anyway.
So I'm grateful that 2/3 of former Infinity Ward staff members are working on Modern Warefare 3 with SledgeHammer Studios.

unless its done with infinity ward then activision is going to shell out for the modern warfare tag due to the fact that infinity ward copryrighted it right before or durning the production of two as far as cod goes i think they need to work alot on the game play and game types before they really try to make it as competivie as halo

and underground treycharc (spelling sorry) has been making strides to improve with each game and i think they'll get it one day

I am not sure i will enjoy MW3, this is sheerly based off the fact that the new games released recently (black ops, halo: Reach) show that the developers are trying to do too much to make a profit.... CoD 4 and halo 2 were the BEST games ever, in terms of competitive gameplay, and just playing for fun, no games have come close to those and I think they are moving away from that. It is a sad that between the CoD series and the Halo series, there really isn't a fun game to play that i can easily waste 5-6 hours on and not be bored. Also, i have a problem with making the games "easier" it terms of appealing to the mass of people, when they really just need to make a game that is 100% consistent, and makes sense when you kill someone/die from someone AT ALL TIMES. Just my two cents.
