View Full Version : Is it the championships without T2?

So i just read on MLGPRO about STR8 being in the dreaded 8th spot, trying to qualify for the championships. Now obviously its not the same STR8, its really just T2 and the new guys. So instead of asking would it be the championships without STR8 we'll just leave it as without T2.
When even was the last time T2 didn't make the championships? The guy is a gnarly competitor, drive outmatched in the league in my opinion, and i just don't think it would be the same without him.
Now i think this new team is great for him, (although i'm not so sure about he and Ghost playing together) and i hope desperately the team can come together for this tourney.
BUT! Do we think Str8 will make it? They have to place strong and Warriors is playing mean lately.
What do you guys think? Would it be the same without big daddy T?

I think they've been playing a crap load of h3 since the last tourney so they are putting their full effort into making it. But I think the warriors will out place them yet again. Enough to kick str8 outta nationals? idk.
I have faith in T2/Ghost/Naded/Defy !! My Money is on them to make it without a problem !!

Well I felt pretty confident about Str8's new lineup and that they'd be able to, probably not win, but definitely use DC to qualify for Nationals. Like you posted T2 doesn't play around, he definitely wants it as bad as anyone. However seeing Mr. P post that his money is on the making it with ease completely cements my belief. That guy knows what he's talking about, so when he guarantees a team to do well, I'd pay attention lol. Str8 to make nationals and place top 3.
ps either way this year's nationals is gonna be ridiculous.

T2's sick, and he doesn't deserve to be in the 8th spot. Unfortunate team situations have led him in such a dissatisfying position. I've not seen T2 play as well as he is right now in a very long time. This year has been his best Halo (individually) out of each year of Halo 3. He's only getting better with age.

I agree. Love him or hate him I don't think it'd be the same without Big Daddy T there! haha

I agree that he should definately be there....what do you think is thinking was on legit coming back trying to go to d.c. I thought for sure they would get back together....especially with naded on the roster

T2 is a beast and u put naded that can go off at anytime and can change the game at any time plus u got defy that is a really strong support along with ghost they should be able to do it. Plus Mr. P got his money on them so im agree with that lol

I'm probably going to get alot of heat for this, but I wasn't impressed with Legit's last few tourneys. When they dropped Elamite i was suprised because i thought legit was the problem. Then afterwards i still thought Legit was an issue. I know stats say this and that, but the few games I saw, Legit was just not carrying his weight.
So I'm actually glad that they didn't pick him back up.
But with naded...oh man can't wait. T2 is just the type of captain that naded needs right now, and you guys are right, T2 has been playing wicked awesome lately, this should be a killer combo. I think they'll feed well off each other and handle business. I just hope they keep the solid focus from now until DC because the warriors ain't no picnic.

I see where your coming from but as stated earlier about t2's experience in the championship ....who was right next to him......Legit and that is experience that you cant gain unless you do it....im not saying that it was a bad idea but i just think in anything experience is a big factor

What about carbon? Would it even be MLG without Walshy?

T2 is so determined as always and even with a new line up I think they shouldn't have a problem making it. Str8 has solid players on the team and I'm not sure anyone could keep T2 out of a nationals event as determined as that guy is.

Even though these r mlg legends but placing top 12-16 for 4 events in a row doesnt mean that they should qualify, the past is the past nd present is the present. I think t2 finally faced reality nd he is practicing every day with his squad. Carbon on the other hand just got finished playing reach.
i think having picked up Defy and Naded is really gona bring great success to STR8!

On a side note... I just miss Str8 when it was T2/Legit/Elamite/Snip3down :(.
But I do agree that T2 has definitely improved his individual game, and by how much the new Str8 lineup has been playing Halo 3 recently, I don't think they'll have a problem making it to Nationals.

I agree. Although they are currently in that spot they are looking the best out of the "bubble" teams. After seeing how well they've been playing lately I have no doubt they have the ability to get top 4 again.

AFter the lan...not looking good.
These guys just could not get on the same page. Naded complained for 4 days str8 about team not being aggresive enough, Tom kept getting upset about the lack of enthusiasm, ghost was just upset with naded's decisions and defy said about 4 and halfwords.
All in all, quite disappointing.

the look of str8 lineup just doesnt seem right. i never imagined defy and naded with T2 what so ever and i cant see their play styles matching very well either.

Str8 is getting alot of practice before DC with the 2 LANs lots of online scrims and still not having played Reach. I think they'll be able to get top 8 to top 6 at DC, if they can stay on the same page and work together instead of arguing, hopefully come event time that wont be an issue.

ok Look at the lan that just happened and ask your self the same question... yes sadly i see a MLG nats with out Walshy but the way Str8 played i cant picture them not taking top 3 in DC and i will put money down saying they will make it to Nats above 8th seed

Str8 is looking good. They might even make it back into the Top 4. They were playing great Halo all weekend--the placed 2nd in the seeding of the 6 Team LAN and placed 3rd in the tournament portion. Unfortunately for Carbon, it's not looking good. They did not win a single series all weekend.

To be honest, the only way Str8 made it to have a chance at Championships is because they made the decision to take the Classic seed which I still view as shady. Basically, if Str8 plays good this tournament, they make it into Nationals by playing poorly the entire year and swapping for a better seed from Classic, who was playing good all year.
That said, when Str8 faces Warriors, its probably going to decide if they make it or not. Win and they have a chance. Lose and I can see them coming top 12 at the most.
The championships for me would be worse if Walsh didn't make it. But I can't see it happening after this Lan. Unless Walsh and SK go INSANEEE

but the way they played was great plus you cant really say they took Classic's seed Str8 fell apart and picked up new players that changed their points its not like they planned it.

I think T2 will make it to the championships I'm Just not certain about Carbon. Carbon had bad luck this season with having horrid team changes happen to them this year.

yeah i personaly think this is Walshy's last year it would not shock me if he retires or choachs or even goes to the MLG staff. seems like thats the Carbon thing to do lol or the Vet player thing to do.

i think warriors should be going to nationals, its a travesty that after all they have done this year they might not make it.
yet STR8 and CbN who haven't done anything all year are still occupying top8 spots
HavkinKnight

well the Warriors can still go there are 5 teams that have a shot at the last 2 spots. but let me ask you this Emerald would you rather see Warriors over people like T2 Naded Ghost Walshy and people we have watched for years.

I think that T2 is a classic case of a guy who was considered to be overrated, then became so forgotten that he's underrated. I think he's been playing his best Halo 3 this year, and he really has deserved better placings. Having put in the work and practice prior to this event, I think Str8 is well-positioned to retain that last spot. The two LANs really helped them. Early in the first LAN, they looked pretty weak, but they've really hit their stride in the last two weeks.

Ya second lan really boosted my hopes cuz i was worried after that first lan. If they can just keep on the same page they'll be ok. I keep thinking about that series where they beat carbon last weekend, before they beat them overall Carbon took 3 games. In tourney time Str8 would have been out to Carbon. They can't slack, they gotta stay focused, and they need to slam those games iin early.
Warriors have fought hard, but i don't think they've fought hard enough to take Str8 out of nationals. I mean its the freaking last H3, Big daddy T should be there. Warriors will have thier chance.
I mean think about victorious secret, that poor team has come close so many times and keep just barely missing it. They try and fight hard, and deserve credit for it. Just like warriors deserves credit for what they've done.
They just don't deserve Str8's spot :) IMO at least.
Go Str8!

Oh i agree see Str8 has put in 3 years of Halo 3 Warriors have put in less than a season. i think Str8 deserves it more.
