Hey everyone, I have a big concern with the TLN community. So I have been reading a lot lately, and see a lot of arguments. What happened here? We all used to be able to post, and critique without any worries of an argument. I think threads are being closed too often. We all know how things work here. I am guilty as well with a pointless thread here or there, or multiple posts about the same thing. It is slowly becoming an MLG.com forum, which I depserately would love to avoid. Can we all get back to liking each other, put differences we have aside and start over? TLN has just made a huge jump with partnering with JTV, even with some website and stream problems it will get worked out. Lets help keep this place what we all love, friendly and helpful. This "troll" nonsense has to stop. People who call someone a troll are calling that person out as well, lets just stop all the nonsense. If you have a problem with someone, PM them. Keep it private. Everyone doesn't need to hear every single person's arguments. Sorry for the long write up, and if people get mad this is in the General Discussion thread, but I felt it needed to be said. Lets keep TLN the way it always has been, we will soon be the new MLG forums if we don't keep things civil.
We need to welcome new people better, stop commenting on "oh nice first post" and garbage like that. They will learn just like we all had to. I started off a post whore and now have calmed down and try to help TLN keep it's positive image. Everybody needs to do that.
Thank you for listening!
Sadly there are just some people who love to sit behind a monitor and troll/argue all day. If it's on the internet then you can't do anything about it unfortunately.

When it's free, the idiots come in and flood the chatter.

Well then we need to be grown up about it and just let it go. Distinguished members don't need to jump in and put their 2 cents in, because all that does is add fuel to the fire. Ignore them, let the mods do their jobs, and lets leave it at that. Nothing good can come of adding another person into an already pointless argument.
When new members see people who's post counts show they are very active around the forums here act up and argue like kids, then they will see it okay to. Learn/Teach by example.
@Volg...I see what you mean. However sine this is a free website now, they can ban people without any worry. I say if continue to do things against what Mods are saying, and are known for just starting arguments, trolling, causing bad blood. Get rid of them. What are they going to say, I got banned from a free website/forum for starting arguments all the time? No one will take their side. As harsh as it is I think TLN staff needs to crack down on people like this or else this will be the MLG forums in a few months.
OT: IP bans, do they prevent someone from entering any part of the website? or jus the forums? Because if people are in danger of losing their way of watching the free LANs, then maybe they won't act up.

I don't feel like looking up the post I've made twice now about posts like this. Basically anybody who has ever thought that TLN was some kind of internet utopia is delusional. There has always been arguments, the only difference now is you notice it more because the community is growing. People are going to come and go, some are going to be dicks and some are going to be cool, the key lies not with trying to get all the people to get along, but rather with yourself learning to ignore the trolls and not get sucked into pointless arguments. Honestly I'd say sit back and enjoy the arguments because they can be quite lulzy sometimes.
tl;dr
sit back, relax, and enjoy the lolz.

Bans disable you from posting on the forums and from viewing the stream. Currently i(Moderators) do not have the ability to ban people from a single area of the forums. I know Joe Fries has done it in the past however.
As a mod i look for certain things before removing posts. Generally i will let something stand unless it has resorted to slagging matches or abuse. What is currently going on in the +1 thread i don't have a quarrel with. Although i was at work for most of it, what i have seen is just people arguing a dispute. And there is nothing wrong with that on any forum that i know of.
But tbh, if i removed every post where someone was bringing up and argument with someone there would be no forums left.
-Edit-
As for discussion of "This will become the MLG forums" Yes that is a possibility, however i will always try to cut down on the out and out hate abuse of people(Which MLG has by the buckets) I will always try to keep it Pg-13, but too much moderating is just as bad as not enough. We need to give people some slack otherwise it would turn sour. I already receive hate PM's every time i remove posts/threads.

I still think they are miles ahead of the MLG forums, although that may be because of a lack of a rep system here. Ultimately arguments are part of a forum, provided that they can be kept civil and in order.

To me it is very sad people are okay with just saying "let it be whatever". I've already stopped with the LAN chats because of immaturity, guess the forums may be next. At least I still have the LANs to watch.

I am not saying let it descent into decay. What i am saying is there are acceptable and unacceptable things, arguments are a part of every forum, and just because someone doesn't agree with someone else that wont give me the right to black hole their posts.
There is give and take everywhere, the more hateful stuff we delete. But arguments of the scale that are currently going we will let carry on. Untill someone goes too far
I think the main problem is that the MLG community as a whole is pretty young(Correct me if i am wrong) and some people take these things to heart much easier.

@Areneatrox I get it, what bothers me is how people can't let stuff go. It drags on and on and on, and like someone else said to other threads as well. That is just a sign of immaturity and not having enough going on in your life. An argument is one thing, but I mean when it's the same people a lot of the times too, it's just annoying. I really love the TLN forums, but I honestly can't see myself coming back to them if all I see is arguments everyday in EVERY thread. It seems you can't post anything anymore without it turning into a fight. Again it's not that they happen, it's just that people don't know how to let stuff go.
Anyways I'm done with my view on this, just see how it goes. Hopefully it gets better otherwise this will be goodbye to the TLN forums and community for me. I hope that's not the case though because despite my concerns as of now, I still do LOVE TLN!!

Arguments are a part of life, rather than trying to stop them which will never and should never happen we should all try to think of each others as friends, quarrels with friends are common and usually beneficial, and an argument like the +1 is for the most part just people expressing opinions, and if we didnt let people do that way more would quit than the people who don't like to see the arguments. People need to remember there is another person on the other side of the argument and that one post you think is wrong dosent make them a waste of life soul stealing terrorist and its very likely that you could still get along fine, even with the difference of opinion. And for the record, I think this is the best behaved the community has been in a while.

That's fine. I'm going to be done on the forums. People read too fast or just don't take the time to really read what people say. I didn't say to get rid of it completely, just learn to let things go and not start arguments in EVERY THREAD because that's how it seems it is becoming. You can't start a thread without it turning into an argument. And once an argument starts not one single person can let anything go, or be the bigger person and end it. It's dumb and pointless. Everyone can have fun with it the way it is going. I will miss TLN before the partnership happened though. See those who I am friends with on XBL online!

I don't think TLN has ever been perfect, I've seen hate on these forums ever since I joined (granted not as much as the MLG forums). The key imo is to ignore the people who are hating/arguing for the sake of hating/arguing. There is a difference between discussion and arguing. Arguing gets personal and that is what people need to avoid/ignore.

this type of thing happens everywhere. best thing to do imo is to just try an ignore it
