How long do you plan on playing video games professionally?

How do you maintain consistency in your gameplay? Most players tend to have really good games every now and then, but usually go back to poor gameplay the next day. One day the DMR could be "on target", however, the next day it would be completely sloppy!
What techniques/methods do you have to help with that?
