Official Noob School Thread

Hey guys,

I want to start this thing which I will call "Noob School." I will answer all of the questions you might have in the reading below.

What is "Noob School?"

Noob School is a free service where "Noobs" can learn the ways of Halo Reach and feel more comfortable with the game. I am starting this service to help people become better at Halo Reach, not single out the "noobs." With that being said, I only have joined this community just today, but I feel that if some of the really good Halo Players on here can give up maybe a 1/2 hour, or maybe more to help out others, we can be the best gaming community out there. I know that many pros give lessons and things of that nature for money, so I want to remind you that this is totally free, and I am planning to recruit teachers for our "Noob School."

The Plan

I want to get this as much notice as possible, so I need people to join. Don't be afraid to be categorized as a "Noob." It's okay, and we were all in the same boat sometime. Before you know it you wont be a noob anymore, and hey if you're lucky me or one of the teachers will notice you and you can come back and become a teacher. I plan to have a teacher of the month(besides me of course) and have certain awards for up and coming gamers. This is a lot to do but if any community besides MLG can do this, its' this one. Onto the good stuff.

What you can do to help?
If you are a good halo player, with teamwork and tons of advice to give then you can become a teacher. If you are a not so good halo player than you can sign up as a Noob. I hope that you will see this and want to join either to learn something new or want to help others!

It is strongly suggested that all teachers have aim, but if not either make one or join anyway, we wont treat you any different.

Event Exp: I live in United Kingdom, no event xp but however I did place top Individual Joe with Towey in the second Pro's Vs Joe's 2011 "2" March 11th and also play with some well known Halo EU Reach Players and Top Pro's.

Time Zone: To most Americans I am around 5-6 Hours ahead of you all so if I will be teaching around 11pm 12am 1am area my time.

i really enjoy playing the objective but struggle in the slaying role in order to play that objective, looking to be a solid support player and attend an event, but i need a lot of work first haha

I won't be going to Anaheim, because it is a west coast event and like many other gamers it is just to far to travel. I will be attending Raleigh. We had a last minute fourth for Columbus and my team is now looking for one.

We want to find a fourth soon so we can really get a lot of practice in and so we can actually rely on our teamwork in Raleigh. I'm a strategist,which I think all players are to a certain extent, and I can play the game well. I don't just spawn and start shooting or just automatically hold up on the left stick. I think about each spawn as much as I can and the situation that my team maybe in at that point in time and what I need to do to help my team get out of it.

Whether we are three dead and about to spawn or if I die, but my team is still pushed up and I decide what I should do when I spawn and where to go...So many people don't think about what they do in the game and they are just on autopilot it seems. This is something you can't do.

If you are the player that spawns and just finds the opposite team and calls the guy out your shooting at and then you get mad that you aren't getting help, remember you are not the only person on the team and try to be reactive to more of your teammates callouts and not be so proactive in your own gameplay.

I'm relaxed. I just thought you were just replying to me in your posts. I look forward to meeting some new people I haven't yet in the forums online. As for the looking for a 4th remark, I was just trying to give people who read this a little background on me and my situation since people may not know me and what kind of commitment I would like to put towards this.

It's fine, dont sweat it. If your a good enough teacher, maybe you will be teacher of the month. Get your post count up though.

I just had a lesson with Inexist, we went over map movement and self awareness. He was really good with power positions and where to go after spawning plus showed me some good opening routes for me the objective player. Overall great teacher with a lot of knowledge on map positioning. Had about an hour long lesson and learned so much!

I really do appreciate it brotha thank you! Its all about Self Awareness and not knowing when to challenge, its so hard to when you run MLG by yourself because the setup part is most crucial and just being aggressive!

i have an idea, im not sure if its worth using depending on how things are run in the lessons, but i thought it was atleast worth sharing.

IDEA: you could get 4 teachers all play 4 novices in a 4v4 match so that each novice gets the chance of playing in a match while giving the equal opportunity to the teachers to all critique him or her. This enables each teacher to give feedback from different aspects in the game while simultaneously giving 4 novices a lesson at the same time at the expense of 4 teachers all devoting an equal amount of time at the same time. IDK just an idea i thought i should share.

Just had a session with Fatal 5/5
Fatal spent the time to go through the two new maps and show me the call outs.
he also told me good flag running routes and set ups.
I feel like he did better the hea7 on the part of reviewing my game play, but this was also after hea7 helped, me resize my mistakes and I don't make the same mistakes.

I feel Fatal is a good teacher for noobier players, hea7 is good for avrege players, and inexist is better for high level players.
