"Whitey Bulger" Caught!

The reason I wanted to tell you all of this is that my teammates grandfather was murdered by a Boston mobster named "Whitey Bulger" a while back and yesterday he was caught and arrested in California. We were in a party chat last night and on the news he heard "Whitey Bulger has been arrested" and we were talking about Whitey Bulger 10 minutes before we saw this on the news. So when we heard about this right after we were talking about it, we felt like something or somebody was on our side.

As a lifetime Boston native I was truly shocked to hear he had been caught. My gandfather was a Boston Policeman and Homicide Detective who worked on many Whiteys murders. My entire life I have heard stories from my family about him, my grandfather interviewed Whitey on many occasions but couldnt stick any crimes to him. I called him this morning to let him know and tell him how it happened and his only response was "Thank God", this really let me know the impact this man had on the city I love so dearly.

For those of you who dont know, Whitey was an informant with the FBI and mastermind at covering his tracks. While helping the FBI take down other mob bosses he continued to grow his business right under their noses. The FBI was essentially taking away people he didnt like in a cleaner way than he might have. Most of his killings were done by a man named Johnny Martorano or "the Executioner", a man who killed anyone in the path of the Winter Hill Gang. For instance, Stephen Flemmi (Whitey's right hand man) was beaten up at an after hours bar, Martorano followed the man, walked up to his car, shot him and his two passengers out of pure revenge for what the man had done. I thought I might give a little background as to the terror these men caused in Boston as it fascinates me.
