343 Industries have announced a title update for Reach to be put in place very soon.

Here is a link to the article;
http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/headline/the-halo-bulletin-62811/85728

Now whether this means gameplay mechanics such as the beat down system, grenade damage and bloom will change can be left to speculation (please change it oh my gawd). I found it an interesting read.

Discuss.

get ready for no fall damage, 3 shot pistol, no bloom, and pure awesomeness. Reach is gonna get a whole lot better.

Hmmm. Until I see something other then words then I'm not getting my hopes up. The only thing promising is the part where they listen to are feedback. The down part is the Halo communities feedback comes from the type of people who creep around Bungie.net and love their armor lock. Bungie says they use player feedback too....look where that ended up.

343 says they're gonna make more like a classic experience. there's no armor lock and other garbage in previous halos. i'm pretty pumped.

I'm happy for no armor lock, AA's are only if they're sprint, evade, and jetpack. Other than that I actually like Reach as is unlike other people, especially since bloom isn't as bad as people act like it is

If they actually fix this game I will literally have an orgasm. And that is not a joke.

Also, I read that whole thing and the only thing I saw about a title update was the picture at the top of the page. I guess they are just hinting at it.

It's in the original post. i read it from the link, sometimes the last two paragraphs don't show up, i had to go to the front page and click on the article, but here are the last two paragraphs for those who don't see them:

Before you tackle the above tasks, there is one more thing we should talk about, something we hinted at both during E3 and, more recently, in the first paragraph of this Bulletin. We’re pleased to confirm that we’re planning a Title Update (a small download which will add some interesting functionality) for Halo: Reach in preparation for the multiplayer aspect of Halo: Anniversary.

If your heart suddenly sped up, fret not, Reach fan. This is something that will not only sit side-by-side with Reach’s existing gameplay and will be accessible by both Reach and Anniversary players, but will allow us to make fairly significant changes to multiplayer gameplay within the confines of Matchmaking. We’ve talked about this as a way to better recreate the classic Halo: CE feel for the new classic maps, and it will let us do some things in gameplay that simply aren’t possible now. I don’t want to give too much away until we get through gameplay and bug-testing, but an example scenario would be allowing you to play, say, [REDACTED] with zero fall damage. Now that’s a limited and simplistic example, but it does speak to the way we’re approaching the changes philosophically. There are some bigger ticket “classic” Halo gameplay elements which people are clamoring for and which we intend to do our best to deliver on. More news about specific changes and the timing of the Title Update will be forthcoming. But I can say that, having tried a few of the more significant tweaks, certain “classic” elements are already working with beautiful and deadly efficiency.

It was pretty good, nothing special. I'm in the middle of a move right now though, so I'm going to have to re-learn it on a new connection.

Edit: Also 7 sens has magical capabilities.

I would bet the OG Reach kids will be crying when they hear that all their noob-friend stuff is possibly going away.

I can guarantee that they WILL NOT take out bloom, but might alter it. It would break the game way too much.... The only thing i see them doing is putting a better ranking system in (maybe 1-50) and possibly fix the grenades!!!

What would be cool is if they put in a way to edit each weapons damage individually... so you could make the pistol a 4 shot kill, still have the DMR 5 shot. If you do that now it increases the damage for everything... so then the nades would be to powerful.

im trying not to get my hopes up because if this dosent add a bunch of great stuff I might die.

Hoping for at least removed bloom, ranking system, fixed melee's,

Armour Lock needs to go.
A ranking system needs to be integrated.
Certain playlists need to be altered, I.E a dedicated driving section :)
Maps need to be fixed or removed, i'm looking at you, Pinnacle!
Fixing the forge world problems would be good too.
If all this is done within the year, Reach might start living up to it potential.
They shouldn't remove bloom, they should remove randomness of spamming. Make timing your shots worth it, rather than have some noob spam 5 you from across the the map.
EDIT: Fixing the god awful beat downs would be nice too.

i really don't think they're gonna do that stuff. they're just trying to make the gameplay feel more like halo CE. i could see them changing the pistol, possibly the DMR, and changing jump height, fall damage, maybe beatdowns, etc, and that stuff will mostly be in the classic playlist and custom settings. i don't think they'll put in a ranking system or fix forge world.

I will keep my fingers crossed, and hope my dream comes true.

In general, I feel that with how Halo's custom game options can be tweaked, no title update change to the game should be something permanent, but rather just another option we can change. For example, I hope that instead of removing bloom entirely, we can turn it on or off.

I personally feel that with the ability to tweak custom game settings that Halo is known for, we should simply have an option for any changes to the game. That way, if the game is in fact bad with no bloom, we can simply fix it ourselves, or play either way when we want to. I feel the same way with animations, it should be an option you can turn on or off for custom games.

This is an intresting idea, i like it. Would be nice to have the option to do it.

I think they might slowly turn it into Halo1-ish as possible until Halo4 comes out.

You never know what will happen at the moment.
I just hope they fix some of the flaws with Reach, god knows it needs it.

They can make bloom the size of your screen and turn the DMR into a squirt gun, I still would never play MW3.

^^^ lol @ fatal, i concur

melee bleed through and a nade nerf would be nice. I think that would make the game a lot less frustrating.

I don't really mind the bloom so much, I've gotten used to it. Possibly reducing the max, or speeding up the reset might work, but taking it out entirely would almost break the game, IMO.
Having the option to turn it off for customs and playlists would be nice, tho.

AHAHHAHAH!!! I still hope they fix bloom, beat down system, and just turn the rest of the game into the older halos like it is meant to be

I dont really care about the bloom as much as a lot of other people do but if they would take it off it would be better because having to paste your shots makes the game a lil slow, so take out the bloom would be good or at least put less affect on it.

not gonna get my hopes up too much for this one.... chances are that the changes would be applicable only in customs and playlists tailored to the CE remake but fingers crossed!

Hope this update helps bring back the H2 and H3 fans that hate Reach the way it is now. I want to see this update take away Bloom, take AAs completley out of the game, and No fall damage. :)

See I rather not have it take away anything but give us the option to turn them off.

I agree with the whole no bloom thing and fall damage can suck it but I think that the armor abilities are good as is sprint adds a new way to escape and also another thing to be mindful of reach in general is a slower paced game that requires more skill I've just gotten used to it and am actually starting to appreciate it more and more
